Saw these chaps last night at the Winterthur Musikfestwochen, 'pon the occasion of my birthday. Highly recommended. Folk-punk, and really well done. Great stage presence as well.
It's been ages since I checked in. Glad to see that some things never change, in a world gone mad etc etc....

Three Sql administrators walk into a noSql bar.
Half an hour later they leave because they couldn't find a table.

Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

They tried but it didn't help because the barkeep never gave a consistent answer.

Half an hour? That's a mighty long time to spend in bar where you can't sit and have a drink.
Personally, I would have rolled back immediately!

Newer version of AVG antivirus will update automatically, even if you set up the options so that it's supposed to ask (which is doesn't). Although I removed it from most of my systems, I've a junk-laptop and TV Set PC (Dell refurb) for media and they still run AVG.
Sounds so Win10-ish. At least they give it out free, so complaints are a little less justified. Still, AVG has now become malware.
For entertainment purposes, I installed a firewall to replace the junk that comes with windows. All default AVG permissions were deleted (not just disabled). Now I'll see how this plays out. Will the firewall block access, giving me back control, or will a systems-level program like AVG slip around it? Actually, the firewall offers free AV, so the solutions already at hand, but you know how that curiosity goes (i.e., I want to win the battle, first).
[update]
UPDATE:
Zone-Alarm will handle it under the following conditions:
- Change the exisiting ZA settings for AVG (deleting them is easiest).
- Set the Advanced options slider to asks you before allowing
- Set the other Advanced options slider security level to highest.
The second two procedures are required so that you can allow in update if you wish and ZA doesn't automatically pass it on some internal white-list.

Fiddler (software) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[^]Seems to work with HTTP/HTTPS - and AVG's not. It runs as a background program loaded at the SYSTEM level. No browser or related protocols need be involved. By using the Firewall (ZoneAlarm), I hopefully disabled its access as a recognized application. ZA will (I hope) ask me to permit access when I next fire up the system.
