Although the concept's old, it's still reliable.

Quote: The Soapbox allows you to stand up and have a rant, tell a bad joke, complain about someone or post stuff that that may not be appropriate for reading at work and/or isn't strictly IT industry related. I occasionally let loose, and even less occasionally, apologise for any offence. But it really is an open forum. if you find it not to your taste ...

No - you misunderstood what I was getting to. It's not the type of things that are posted, per se, but that people will post things that are readily provable as false, that they know how to prove as false, but choose to present as though it were true.
The question is, and quite a philosophical one at that: If you suspect something is a lie and can check its veracity but "choose not to", so you don't for a fact "know" it to be a lie, does that make it OK? [even from the SoapBox] .
That's my rant - not what's posted in terms of tone, but the display be people about how little regard they have for any truth that doesn't agree with their world view.

I don't think there is much you can do about that, people often believe what they choose to believe, and the 'truth' is not always absolute. The recent thread about Trump vs Clinton provided some nice examples.

If only these people would read Machiavelli's "The Prince" - and see what's being done to them and how long it's been done to people.
The current election cycle has a theme: J'accuse ! - prove me wrong. An an ill-educated audience lapping up the manipulation.

Most of them would not even know the book exists, and even if they did, would probably not understand it. To be honest it's not an easy read. However, I get your point, and tend to agree with you, but ... boys will be boys.

Nope - the website's not Masonic at all (although it is a squatter on a Masonic Website).
Balboos is not Masonic at all. The "W∴" is.
It's not super exciting but being a man-of-mystery, even if for a few minutes, must be worth something.

Never apologize. It's a sign of weakness.
As an example, liberals are always apologizing...

I see why you'd post that but it's not quite why.
The hope was (originally, but it didn't last) to separate from any specific topic and jump in on the whole. If it had gone as hoped, there could have been some good thoughts generated in any number of heads, my own include.
Meanwhile, I leave this for you so you can understand me better:
I fight with people on the left.
I fight with people on the right.
