So it would've been time for a new SOTW by now, but I haven't posted one for seven weeks now and today's not going to change that.
I've been quite busy, privately with my girlfriend and professionally with my new (first) employee and more projects than I can handle, as well as other things that I would normally be busy with anyway.
Good things to be sure, but I've been listening to music a lot less and when listening I've been listening differently.
Unfortunately, I don't see that changing anytime soon.
So after seven(!) years the curtain officially falls for the SOTW.
Thanks for the amazing recommendations over the years
Going to end this with an old favorite of mine that just popped up into my head.
Andrea Bocelli & Sarah Brightman - Time To Say Goodbye[^]
Needless to say, I'll still be around posting my Wordle scores and an occassional bad joke

I love Deep Purple's Machine Head album and some of Black Sabbath's work too.
I think Sultans of Swing was featured in the SOTW once, that probably would've been your cup of tea

Being that it is mother's day colliding with Diablo 4 server slam weekend, and needing to get my weekly Halo event done, I thought that I would sneak in a late night session of Halo.
I fired up my late night (after midnight) session of Halo.
Then, randomly, without any notice, I'm in the heat of battle with one or more players of the opposing team and my Task switch view (ALT-TAB) would pop up and stay on the screen, ending in me getting my butt handed to me, ie: killed. Restarting the game did nothing. Restarting the PC did nothing. Physically switching keyboards did nothing. Physically changing mice did nothing! Like, wtf! Randomly it kept happening.
Not playing the game the issue did not happen, only when playing Halo!
So after a long day coding at work, then dinner, and more coding on my own project, it is now after 3am, how do you diagnose? Both the keyboard and mouse are Logitech and wireless. Changing to other branded keyboard and mouse did not resolve it.
It wasn't until I tried to use the Logitech app that I had an issue. Reinstalled the app & the problem was solved... partially corrupt or bugged driver.
Hopefully, this experience will help someone...

Call me old fashioned, I prefer Wired mouse and keyboard (with a PS2 connector if possible but will tolerate USB).
I find wireless if a bit unreliable, mice mis-tracking, keyboard caps-lock being random. Wires got man to the moon!

I use to be but these days lag is non-existent. I have plenty of other cables on my desk for all the devices and accessories ... anything to declutter is a plus.
FWIW, the non-logitech keyboard and mouse used were cabled. They are my backups. Still, they had the same issue!

Unless you deinstalled the wireless drivers, the wired hardware was collateral damage.
Could it have been a stuck key state? I used to have that happen with remote desktops sometimes.
Switching between normal video and DirectX might have similar opportunities.

I thought it was but cold booting pc and replacing hardware made no difference. Was just a software driver issue.

So that's why the Israelis, the Indians, and the Japanese moon landers crashed - they tried doing it by wireless.

I bet there was a driver that needed to updated

I don't know about the others, but the Israeli Bereshit lander crashed when the main rocket cut out prematurely. It was literally a bad driver.

My odd behavior was solved by new batteries in the wireless mouse. It was still sort of working but oddly.
Work from home took more out of it than I was used to with the battery change schedule I was using before.

The cat woke me by bouncing up and down on my bladder at 05:00; being a normal DSH, he used his "variable mass" power to alternate between 4KG and 45KG randomly to ensure proper wakefulness.
I quickly intuited this meant "I want breakfast" and hastened to oblige, pausing only to deal with my now over-pressurized bladder.
Cat fed, Herself SAT monitored, with surprisingly good results - the little concentrator at max overnight in the spare room with the door closed and an extended cable got her to an all-time high of 94 so that'll be staying in some form, though it'll need some attention in the long term.
No internet. Dial tone, good up- and down-stream speeds, but no IP address, and the desktop refusing to see the local network though the Surface can. Phone for some reason very slow - dial up slow - but diagnostics and swearing finally got 4G and contact with the ISP.
Internet fixed. It's now 06:30 and I can finally get to see what is going on. Coffee time!
I'm lucky I posted this at CP, never mind the right forum!
