Brilliant! An "up" arrow scrolls it UP or DOWN. Sure didn't see that one coming.

It is called responsive design...A BS implementation of responsive design...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

I think you nailed it with this.
Some junior dev or intern who was like, "yeah, that's my responsive design...hiding stuff unless the stupid user moves unknown stuff around..."

I shouldn't be at all surprised if that's really what they think responsive design means.
"Oh, it means that you see more if you make the window bigger!"
yup.
And the best part is that these **Great** **Upgrades** are forced on everyone.

Seems reasonable.

I wonder what kind of genius designed this UI. I need to maximize to see all the buttons, otherwise asin, acos, atan are not visible too. This is baffling. Who would have known? Do we need to read documentation in order to use calculator now?

Try Google: ln(1) - Google Search[^]
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

That's very cool. I forgot about how helpful Google is in this case. Thx.
Out of curiosity, do you have the ln button in your win8 win10 calc?

I'm no fan of google's, but that I like!

Click the Up-arrow just below the square root sign, to the left of CE .

Someone else mentioned that too.
I never would've guessed that up arrow meant that.
I think Microsoft has instituted a new UI Design goal...Punish the user
It's actually punishment for using their app. Microsoft has begun to punish users for using their stuff. It makes sense now.

IIRC there is a section (can't recall which) in Charles Petzold's book "Programming Windows", where he writes "No one said it would be easy".

But Petzold was talking about programming! not using!

Yes, but you don't know what Microsoft was talking about.

Click the UP arrow on the calculator display. It will change log10 to ln, 10^x to e^x, etc.
EDIT: Arggh! beaten by Richard!
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

Thanks very much. This is terrible UI design. Maybe some enjoy this type of thing. Ugh!

Also, has anyone noticed that you CANNOT resize the calc window from the top?
That's a cool new behavior of the new Windows UI too, isn't it?
More user punishment.
Here's the insider view of the MS devs at work.
Dev 1: Can you imagine when the user (giggle, snort) attempts to resize from the top of the window and he cannot get a resize arrow (giggle, giggle)?
Dev 2: That is so funny. Hahaha, s/he'll be chasing the top edge around like a lunatic.

They paid Google to do that.
See Anrdoid Studio.

The best thing about is: You can't calculate anything with decimals if you're in programmer mode... You have to switch to another mode for that.
I prefer one mode for all purposes instead of being forced to switch to different modes. Whoever thought this was a grand idea needs to be slapped as well.

That problem has existed in all versions of Calculator as far back as I can remember.
