You have my sincere sympathies: I lost my parents many years apart, and that was bad enough. To lose them both in a short time must be horrible.
And yes, there do seem to be more passings than usual: Herself lost her sister at the end of November as well, Alan's cancer finally caught up with him this year, as well as Bowie, Prince, and the rest.
This says it all really.[^]

Thanks - mitigating the closeness of the events was they both being well into their eighties and, by that time; very seriously decaying qualities of life.
The permanence is the only part I can never get used to - no way to fix it - anything which wasn't done cannot be done. In my mind, however, I was quite ready. They were, too.

She was a much better writer than actress, and in "Wishful Drinking" (a book that left me with laughter-induced hypoxia) she offered the typically mordant observation that she knew exactly which photos and film clips would be used by the media to announce her demise.

Tempting as it may be to mustard gas and pepper spray the relatives on Christmas day, particularly if they insist on playing Monopoly, it's generally regarded as a poor idea.

They might be seasoned but you can't just a-salt people without doing thyme. You'll be in the police ar-chive dill the end of your days. Just be anise person. This is sage advice to avoid all that saffron

Some VX-SOP stuff?
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

I don't know much about this stuff. It said something about Jerez and had an (imitation) wax seal just below the neck of the bottle.
I'm almost certain this is it: Cardenal Mendoza Brandy de Jerez Solera Gran Reserva[^]
Is this considered any good?

I've no idea whether it's a good brandy. However, judging by the reported results, it is reasonably lethal to brain cells.
(VX-SOP is a portmanteau made from VX gas and VSOP)

Apparently, not lethal to brain cells.
They did, however, go on an outing. They returned this morning, quite rested and refreshed. At least until The Lounge . . .

This article makes yet another compelling case for the value of reading other people's code. So, for those of you who agree with the sentiment (as I do -- at least in theory), found anything good lately that you'd like to share?
I'll go first: I've been spelunking through some of the CSharp portions of .NET Core (formerly on CodePlex, but now on GitHub.)
