Circular reasoning of some sort. Makes no cents. Perhaps she wanted you to give the finger?

I got myself a Chapman ML1 Rob Scallon signature guitar (6-string, ebony fretboard)
I love it. It's not lacquered like your usual guitar and therefore you feel the grain in the wood. The coil tap makes it very versatile and I'm not sure if it's the strings or the guitar setup, but it plays more "difficult" (aka it works against), which is good, because it forces me to play better. (not sure if I'm making sense here). I find it measures up to my Gibson and Fender. It's not so ideal for "shredding", but I have my ltd for that.
I choose the Rob Scallon because of the neck through design and I liked it a bit better than the normal ML1 series. Especially the head stock.
I'm addicted to guitars .
(next that caught my eye is probably a PRS, but first I need to refill that savings account)

V. wrote: not sure if I'm making sense here Sure you do. It's like flying a helicopter. You prefer one that does not forgive any errors and that forces you to fly with more concentration and precision.

Igor Sikorsky saw it that way. He tested his prototype himself and joked that this way bad engineers will not be a problem for long.

Everybody does that. My first helicopter did not last 20 seconds before landing on the main rotor.
They would be very uninteresting if you knew everything after a few minutes of trial and error. Wasn't it a triumph when you finally held that thing hovering on the same spot as long as you liked?

I had to save up for long, long time before I could afford a replacement... but yes!

And today we enjoy the luxury to bridge the destructive phase by flying on a simulator.

No simulators existed when I started flying.

@kmoorevs on the bass, @sanderrossel can take the drums (maybe I can backup him). And you take the rhythm and lead guitar

Don't forget about Glenn! I'm sure he's a better bassist than I. (being a Jaco fan and all...my bass hero is Steve Harris)
