Yes but the phrase "I was" implies that there is someone alive to speak it. Since he is on the roots side of the grass is it not left to the audience to say "He was"?

Reminds me of the summer camp by the coast I went to when I was a kid. After every meal we would take our leftovers to the bay and toss them to the dolphins.
They used to call us to meals by ringing a bell and yelling "Dinner: for all in tents and porpoises"

If he had been alive today, there would have been a lot of #metoo reports about him.
I mean, just look at his last name.

The earth definitely isn't flat. If it was the cats would have pushed everything off the edge by now......oh bugger!

Why?
- You can't chase and catch Mickeysoft.
- It's not edible and would not taste well if it were.
- They do nothing to make you sleep well.
- They know everything better, with the same results every time.
=> Totally uninteresting for cats.

That's ok. From a fanatic fundamentalist fanboi point of view everybody who does not agree with you must look that way.

I have asked you in the past who does software better than Microsoft and you have never answered. They are not perfect, of course. Are you a developer? If so, your code has bugs too. So? Everyone does.
You have never been able to articulate why you hate Microsoft so much so that is the main reason I believe you are only a hater. When you cannot put something in to words it generally means you do not understand it yourself.

It's not about the bugs and you know that. It's more about having those bugs shoved down the throat without asking. For 40 years now I have kept my computers running without anybody's help. If you don't mind, I will keep it that way. Why should I spend a single cent on something I don't really like, from a company that wants to treat cusomers as if they were picking cotton on their plantation, and costs me time and money when it falls apart after an update here and there?

CodeWraith wrote: If you don't mind, I will keep it that way. Then don't update. Turn off the update service.

CodeWraith wrote: from a company that wants to treat cusomers as if they were picking cotton on their plantation Again, example? I've never seen a cotton picker make a great living.
CodeWraith wrote: and costs me time and money when it falls apart after an update here and there? But that's true for every piece of software.
See, I just can't get on board with what you say. Nothing is specific enough to be valid.

Ok are VS2015 and VS2017 specific enough for you. I lost all monday trying to reactivate my 'stale' license. First my (company!) mail address was not good enough, then (with my brand new and muuuuch better MSN mail address) this online license thingie fell flat on its face. With a null reference exception.
The only alternative: Install VS2017 to get going again. It worked, until yesterday. It must have done some updates and could not open any Winforms anymore. The designer kept telling me that these classes are not designable. So I spent half of yesterday repairing VS2017, after having installed it only the day before. And guess what? My clock is already ticking because that online license thingie again fell flat on its face. With a null reference exception.
With all the hoops they let me and my boss hop through, the time it cost us and the somewhat meager results leave only one conclusion: They can keep it. Only a masochist can be happy with this.
And what I hope to find elsewhere? Stability, like not being ushered to the next grand idea without any choice. How about not having to deal with that licensing terror? Or how about not having your system wrecked by mandatory updates whenever they feel like it?
Also, I get the most secure system of all. One that can't be hacked so easily, simply because it has no access to any network. It just sits under my desk and does its thing.
