I think the name is spot on - "Excess".

You can't get much of a reaction from a crowd that's fallen asleep.
Just guessing. I stay away from anything Apple.

Hi All,
I wanted to share the joy of getting the next to impossible task done in time for the next phase of testing. Also I want to emphasise the point of backing your software at points along the way (we have all heard the mantra, back it up!). The product contains some embedded code and a horrible bodge to correct a PCB layout error. So this 'widget' is sent for EMC and other testing and can't be tested for vibration as that lab is not available. So they took three of the test units down for the first bit of testing as expected the boards have damage and the processors are corrupted. In other words I get a box of bits back, the units then have to be in a working condition for the vibration test at the end of next week. It took me three days but I have them all working (except a fault that was on one of the units)! The software is as close to what was tested in them as possible as we had one unit still working. However the software 'bloke' I am loathed to call him an engineer as if you release something you should be able to reproduce it if needed, We couldn't use the versions that was on Jenkins/Sharepoint/SVN as they were all different none had the correct date or functionality. For <<expletive deleted="">> can you pick one and it keep it up to date , in the end we had to use a version which had the correct partition table and copy off the working module various tar files that it expanded on boot. To all when you give out software keep a copy of what you have given (not only released formally) for 's sake. Sorry for the length (had too de-stress!)

Ahh, Yes, well the layout is mostly due to wanting to get the joy to the world rather than readability

Ah, didn't know that the two of you had worked out a deal... Sorry!

What you need is Picard's bookshelf and all you have to do is to say:
"Computer! I need three more of the 345 Tb WOM (*) prototypes. And Earl Grey. Hot."
(*) WOM = Write Only Memory

Really? WOMs actually only make sense in transporters and replicators. They do not actually have to be read because every bit of information is already quantum coupled with the Heisenberg compensators.

I think I can find that out. He was burried here in Munich. Now that I know where exactly he is rotating, I probably will have a hard time finding out how fast.

Tb, Tb? This thing a bytes not even Kb, WOM I always took to mean Write Once Memory, Write Only Memory would seem to a bit useless , I mean if you kannie read it, whats the point of writing it. Ask M$ about that

And since it will be kindof hard to prove that anything has been stored at all, we can also lie about the capacity as much as we like.

Not to brag, but we have an automated build process that creates one or more .ISO files at the end that archives all of the source materials that went into the build. Every build, even interim and test builds, gets written to DVD. It may seem like a waste of time, but a couple times a year we end up going back to an archive disc(*) to check something.
(*) Yes, we have source control. The 'check' in this case is for something not included in source control: data files, external applications, some device firmware, etc.
Software Zen: delete this;

Incredibly (or not) I also though of DD...

I already did a few minutes before. I watched a video about Buzz Aldrin punching some guy who wanted to harass him into admitting that they never went to the moon. That was one of DD's favorite topics, but I believe he just did that to start a wild debate.
