you can be sure that eventually ms will get the design right, and soon after it up again. w10 itself is just one current example.

Production releases are for testing, of course.

While we are having a rant...
I very much dislike sites that require you to sign-up before you can even read the article! It sounded interesting too, oh well...

Oh, yeah, computerworld can be like that.
Here's what I do. Create an account using mailinator.com.
Just type in any name and any <something>@mailinator.com
Then you are signed up. And you can see any email they might send you at <something>@mailinator.com.
It's a public inbox.

I have heard of this before but never really bothered to look into it. However, you explanation has convinced me to explore it further
I suppose it would be too much to expect the service will automatically respond to any "click here to confirm email" links? That would be awesome.
Although, if it becomes too popular, sites will just block mailinator domains I guess.
EDIT: Looks like that site already blocks mailinator.com

Bummer, too bad they changed it. I must've gotten in under the wire.

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Even with a fake email, you're still creating a permanent tracking cookie for the bastards.

ing up interfaces is the latest and greatest trend.
Hulu++: (for streaming) sucks so hard it hurts - I'd cut my subscription now if it were not for Mrs WIfe's need for a few shows I've not yet otherwise sourced. It wants to make my TV into a cellphone and shoves "trending" in my face. I don't care what's trending. If I did, I'd find the link and click it. Meanwhile, they no longer seem to keep up-to-date with TV series, which was the reason I selected them to begin with. Huge numbers of subscribers have complained and all they receive are empty platitudes.*
Ubuntu: I loaded 16.04 on my Intel Nuc (it was the Intel Certified version). It, too, seems to be trending more and more into a cell-phone look-and-feel. I'm not using it on an ing cell phone.
Maybe all of this is just some insane race of everyone trying to be like MicroSloth and MicroSloth trying to commit suicide. The age of digital lemmings?
Windows: What could I say that hasn't been said.
* I have a device that still has the older version - this crappy performance and brainless interface is no illusion.

I don't even like the "modern" cell phone look on my cell phone...
all I want is a phone, messages and a few other apps: whatsapp (free msg via wifi on travel), ridewithgps to keep myself honest and occasionally skype.)
fur sure I don't need a friggin christmas tree.
side comment 1: try lubuntu (minimal ubuntu, still traditional type window mgr)
side comment 2: ridewithgps is like strava without the in-your-face social media shite.

My cellphone is a flip-phone. I do not make or accept text's, either. As I explain it, I own my phone and not the other way around.
ridewthgps seems like (when I googled it) a cellfauxn application - not relevant in my current reality.
If/when I reload the system (more like when), I'll possibly just try another flavor of Linux, altogether. Either something very straight and raw or something focused on why I mainly got the NUC (a super flexible adaptable media box), so maybe Mint. Whatever it is, I'll shop more carefully, noting that the images of the interface are telling me more than just how pretty it looks. I already used it (as in VLC) to watch a video that was unaccountably rejected by my patriot media player.

Did you notice, this has been happening for so long. Right after Windows 8, Windows Phone failure.
They were sticking to a very strict "Metro/Modern" UI stuff, without ANY kind of coolness.
Even it took them years to bring a transparent homescreen wallpaper for their phone.
But I guess this is an evolution towards a sensible direction. Even their documentations used to look so dry but now they are putting up some cool pictures, images, drawings .
One example is the new Azure DevOps - What a shower of icons & toons.
