recent whatsapp convo with the kids: a few messages had comments about ducks (the animals, not any alternative / sound-alike ... long story, but really "duck" is the animal)
but
every time I type/tap the letters d u c while it suggests "duck" it always also suggests "f*ck"
I thought these [google] keyboards are supposed to be smart and remember what words you used recently, well in messaging I've never sent the f-word, ever. I know some things better not to write down... I say it plenty, but never messaged it.
why no family safe filter on outgoing?
why no family-safe filter on auto-correct?
(best would be default on and settable / overidable by recipient or per message).
for 's sake I'm messaging my kids, and while they can be annoying little shites this is not one of those times I want to be owned by auto-correct if typing in a hurry.

Probably because the "d" and "f" keys are right beside each other on a standard keyboard - so a "d/f swap" is a very high likelihood mistyping. And is a common word these days, it doesn't have the same impact it did on our parents.

I'm a bit of a river dweller too, my roots lie in the South-West river delta of the Netherlands near the river Schelde. I always liked to bike there and follow the river banks into Belgium near the city of Gent.

Sounds awesome.
We took a cruise recently and stopped in the Netherlands and Belgium, I thought they were very beautiful and wished we would have had more time to roam around.

Thanks
I'm with the Florida Trail Association and I'm responsible for a 32 mile section along the Suwannee River for the last 3 years. Which means I go out and clear the trail so hikers like me can have a clear path to hike. It's been an awesome job but this will be the first year there is no hurricane damage.

Yes!
I lived on the Suwannee for 3 years but since I moved I don't get there as much as I used to. It's a beautiful river and I love it!

Hmm, something about that makes me want to pitch a #7 silver/chartreuse floating Rapala on 6lb. line, for a bass or 5.

Our cuddly orange cat decided he wanted to explore the outdoors (again) and made a run for it a couple days ago (both cats are indoors.) He's had outdoor experience before, being a stray that we adopted a few years back.
Still, we'd like him to come back inside, and have had several sightings of him on the property but he still wants to stay out.
Never-the-less, I set up a Have-A-Heart trap with some cat food in it. Wife checked it this morning and said, well, there's something in the trap, with very light orange fur, but also a lot of black.
SKUNK!
So I went to take a look, and of course it sprayed. Missed me, as I was to the side, but now the whole neighborhood smells of skunk, and being right by the house, it even smells of skunk inside!
Skunk was freed -- I put a towel over the trap, of course the skunk sprayed more, but at least into the towel. Opened the door, and the guy (gal?) was too freaked out to run away. So I had to pick up the trap and shake it out. Is there a song for that? But skunk is free, looked a bit stunned just sitting there outside the trap for a few seconds, then took off. Well, I didn't see it take off -- we both took off in opposite directions.
Still, no cat.

I feel (smell?) your pain
We used to have a dog who wanted nothing more than to make friends with a local skunk. Sadly her overtures of friendship were unrequited. She must have been sprayed a dozen times over the course of her life...never did learn.

We had a mama skunk and her litter in a den under our garage last year. One of the kits wandered into our yard, and my two greyhounds brought it in and dropped it onto the wife's heirloom rug. I scooped it up into a dust pan and tossed it outside toward the den.
The fun part was taking the 7'x9' rug outside, spraying it with water, shampooing it, rinsing it several times, and then lifting it over the fence to dry over the next several days. The rug probably weighs close to 75 pounds dry. Getting it thoroughly wet converts it to woven neutronium. Heaving it up and over the fence was... difficult.
