You'll probably say "Ha! Ha!" after this, but I must confess I only know Manfred Mann by name, I don't know any of his music.

Since I changed my default search engine to DuckDuckGo my FireFox browser (updated to latest version) has crashed 5 times.
The first time I attempted to go to CP by clicking a quick-link.
The other 4 times it crashed when I attempted to load https://drive.google.com/
I changed my default search engine back to Google and now it hasn't crashed again.
Help! I'm being held hostage by a maniacal search engine!!
I will let it run for a while and do my normal work and change it back to duckduckgo again later and if it crashes again I will really wonder why.
I'm not attempting to break the rule, "correlation does not imply causation", but it is a terrible coincidence.

EDIT
Oh, Google Drive Tab crashed now and it looks like this ==>
Looks like it is related to running Android Studio 3.2, because more tabs were crashing and I finally killed Android Studio and they stopped crashing. Ugh!
https://i.stack.imgur.com/oSgqR.png[^]
Oops, while attempting to save that image, another tab crashed even though Android Studio was closed.
I had just rebooted but maybe I need to reboot again. Argh!!!!
Probably Win10 update that I don't know about.?!?
EDIT 2
Okay, Android Studio was still loaded. Had to kill it via task manager.
I changed my search engine back to DuckDuckGo.
Android Studio is getting worse all the time, unfortunately.
EDIT 3
Now that I see how much RAM FireFox is eating and then how much Android Studio eats I am seriously considering upgrading my Toshiba i7, 8GB to 16GB with these (DUOMEIQI 16GB (2 X 8GB) DDR3/DDR3L 1600MHz Sodimm 2RX8 PC3/PC3L-12800S 204pin 1.35v / 1.5v CL11 Unbuffered Non-ECC Dual Channel Notebook Memory Laptop RAM Module for Intel AMD and Mac System at Amazon.com[^])
But it's always the issue of determining if those are really the right ones.
Unfortunately my laptop (Toshiba Satellite S55T-B5273NR 15.6" Touch Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7-4710HQ PRocessor, 8GB Memory -- which is fairly nice for a cheapy) doesn't have a easy panel for the RAM.
EDIT 4
Now, with just FireFox running, FireFox closed instantly and I saw this ==> https://i.stack.imgur.com/wQcs9.png[^]
Really terrible. I've been running FF for months with no problems.
EDIT 5
I'm back and I'm on MS Edge. Let's see if things crash. I'll push it to the limits by running Android Studio too and see what happens.
EDIT 6
I changed my default search engine in MS Edge to DuckDuckGo.
I started Androids Studio and was doing some work. Edge is fine.
I clicked a link in Android studio and FF came up (forgot it was still my default browser) -- well FF actually blinked a screen, and crashed instantly. So, the point?...It is a FF problem. I probably do have "low memory" (see this image of current memory free 2.1GB : https://i.stack.imgur.com/advLh.png[^] ) but I don't think FF should crash because of that. But, it seems that it is a huge memory hog itself.
My FF version is Quantum 63.0.3.
FireFox, you've let me down.
EDIT 7
It may be a conflict between FF 63.0.3 and Android Studio 3.2 (latest).
When FF crashed that last time, my Android Studio also crashed.
I updated Android Studio today to the latest and it has been since then that both of them are crashing.
That's really quite terrible. Maybe they depend upon some common component??
This would be so rare (using Android Studio and FF) that it will be difficult to determine.
I've fallen down the rabbit hole and it is very lonely.

Sounds normal for firefox to me.

Maybe it is FF. It just crashed again with nothing else running and I saw this ==> https://i.stack.imgur.com/wQcs9.png[^]
I've been running FF for months with no problems.
What a pain!

From memory, this can happen when a plugin has a memoryleak.
Then again, I suppose there are a myriad of possible reasons.
I don't touch Firefox any more, my wife is a lot more stable.

I will check but I _never_ run plugins for that kind of reason.
I don't believe I have any plugins.
Thanks very much for the input though.

Yeah, I think you are correct.
I'm running MS Edge and Android Studio with no problems.

It's pretty damned unlikely that a search engine will cause a browser to crash.
A buggy browser, on the other hand...
There are loads of browsers. Search for browser-comparison sites, and pick one that has the features you want.

Yeah, I agree. I thought maybe it was something that FF did internally with that option or something.
It looks like it is totally related to FF & Android Studio 3.2.1 installation.

It's on all the major news feeds

How is it any less applicable to the lounge than any of the other crap posted here?

If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

Spot on.
The credo should be "If you were in a real-life lounge, with colleagues and pals, what would you talk about?"
It's a place to go to talk bollocks and put the world to rights -- so I'm pretty sure that a 7.0 earthquake in someone's home country is something that would be brought up.
And I'm even more sure that I wouldn't ask any programming questions, under such circumstances, so the biggest rule the Lounge has is one that it shouldn't need.
