Fusion?
I am not 100% on the solution, but some parts that make sense:
hybrid = fusion
cat has heart = lion (remove the L for some reason to get ion)
surgery = s? or could be anagram of something
on the menu = also fusion, as in fusion is a type/style of food which you would find on a menu

Oddly, some of those letters are right but not for the right reason.

Just in case you were worried all the spam was distracting us, I for one have already given up... I tried after my first failed attempt, but I just can't even get anything.

darn, I have "OP" and "Tiglon" on my scratch pad... didn't quite make the connection in time though!
Good clue!

option?
op = surgery
erm... something clever here
menu = option

|

Hybrid cat = Tiglon
Remove heart (i.e. take out middle letters) = tion

|
|
|

Yes, that's the one!
I was actually thinking of tigon rather than tiglon - an alternative that I must admit I wasn't aware of until just now.

What I don't understand is....do they think this works? This kind of thing can work if you cleverly hide your message among real messages such that people don't know it's spam. But when you flood a message board with the same thing, what do they think people's reactions are going to be?

It is a massive attack, apparently.

I say the same about TV adverts that suddenly blare out, or that have an annoying, repetitive statement or jingle -- do these people think they're making friends who will buy their product, or enemies who want them to **ck off?

"I controlled my laughter and simple said "No,I am very busy,so I can't write any code for you". The moment they heard this all the smiling face turned into a sad looking face and one of them farted. So I had to leave the place as soon as possible."

Indian astrologer spammers.
Not content with ripping off their customers, they like to pollute everywhere else as well.
Now they are gone, I've tidied up the lounge (but there is too much to do elsewhere at the moment, these diskheads are persistant.
