If the Flying Spaghetti Monster didn't create all life, why is DNA shaped like pasta?[^]

Spaghetti is pasta but pasta is not necessarily spaghetti.
Pasta disguises its horrible self as all sorts of things - sea-shells, tongues, butterflies, deconstructed string-vests, worms, upper-case text, discoloured bed-sheets, testes, bow-ties and indeed, DNA molecules in a desperate attempt to make itself seem more interesting than it actually is.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect. - Mark Twain

Yes, potatoes are far more interesting. And rice.
These things are called staples because after eating them every day for years, you're tempted to staple your mouth closed.

Nah, thats a triple helix.

I just searched the Origin store for DOOM - by accident, wrong tab - and predictably, it didn't find it (it's on Steam)
But what it did come back with is revealing: Origin[^]

GoG has a pretty good deal on DooM[^], but you'll want to also install one of the advanced ports[^], for the better graphics, etc.
I used to use Doom Legacy[^] , but it's fallen a bit behind in compatibility with user-created Wads[^], so I now use GZDoom[^].
[edit] Hmm, the link to the idgames ftp site doesn't seem to work, in CP, but if you use a decent file manager, you can connect anonymously to ftp://ftp.fu-berlin.de/pc/msdos/games/idgames/levels/ [/edit]

I've got all the DooM stuff on GoG - heck, I've lost count of how many copies of DooM i;'ve bought over the years!
I'm thinking about the 2016 version on Steam. I've found that the MB and i5 I fitted in the summer plays the demo nicely, even if I have a GTX 660 Ti and the min requirements are a 670. The culprit was this: Modders build Doom (2016) tutorial level in Doom 2 (1994) - Polygon[^]. Man! That would have been a magnificent Doom2 level!
I dunno. DooM took over my life back in the day; do I have time to play it properly and do it justice?

I believe you are looking for their original release: Commander Keen on Steam[^]
That really was a great game. I played it on an IBM PS/2 (from 3.5" disks) while working in the Computer Lab at University.

It's in my archive now, though!
