I didn't want to provide more detailed resume as I do realize, Longie is not a job board. And I think I give enough - very versatile experience with the most of the commonly used languages. And to answer your question, I would reallocate along the I-95 and to some extend to I-78. Thanks for trying to help!

I got to the end of the page and no one actually answered you question.
In my experience the problem is the Recruiting companies, hiring managers and the interview. Those folks almost never advertise for what they want. Mostly because they do not know themselves. So they ask for Super-Developer/Programmer. Once you get your Resume' out there the Recruiters take a shotgun approach and your are inundated with a ton of "opportunities" with requirements that don't match your skillset (or anyone alive today, except maybe God).
As for length of time it is totally random. A lot depends on your requirements. Are you willing to re-locate for a 6 month contract? Are you adamant about staying at home? Are you looking for contract to hire and so on.
I have worked 3 contract jobs in my 36 year career. All with reasonably satisfactory results for both parties. I would suggest Dice.com and VirtualVocations.com as places to start and get your resume' out there.

Yes, I get it. I am a VB6, VB.Net, and C# programmer who is skilled in SQL Server.
I only do Desktop and Winforms applications.
I wish you luck in your future endeavors.

People who haven't traveled for work often think it sounds glamorous and can't fathom why anyone would complain about doing it. They don't understand what an absolute pain in the ass air travel is and how seeing hotel rooms in many countries is not the same as being on a vacation. I stopped consulting shortly after 9/11 because after that, travel became unbearable.
I don't know any headhunters in the tri-state area, but if you're interested in freelancing, I have been using a new site that is only for freelance developers, and the hiring companies are vetted so you don't get the people that are looking to build a world class website for $1.50. They also have a guide for getting started in freelancing, in case you're interested. Check it out here. https://subspace.net/guide-to-freelancing[^]

Sure - you C I started at nothing and the BASIC starting value was 1. I am still trying to catch up.
Maybe I should map out a different career path.

Yeah, a lot of us are in that boat. I have a digital books library subscription though. It's quite fantastic because you can read so much and pick and choose the best stuff.

Speaking of books, I was at a Barnes & Noble last weekend and figured I would see what new programming books they had. There must have been over 3 shelves dedicated to Python, and no C# offerings...nothing Visual Studio, and nothing VB either! Things have changed since I last bought a technical/programming book in 2011.

Right, it's demand driven. And demand for books or other help with a subject/tool doesn't equate to demand for the subject/tool itself.
I think my boss was quoting Tiobe this morning when he stated that Python is currently the most popular programming language.

Hey, have you been to my local B&N?
That's the same books they have here at ours.
We have some Java books too, but that is because we are very close to a University and as we all know Universities try to use old technology. They definitely don't want students entering the work market with current skills.
