Posting articles here is basically forcing me to dust off the source behind my personal libs and document them.
This is unfortunate, as I prefer to code in codes and riddles.

I think that came from "real men don't use Pascal" it was hard to write , it should be hard to understand

Nah - I always find it's a whole load harder to write code other people can understand!

It's easy until you need the code to do something useful, quickly.

I've never read it, but it could be I heard it from a dev who heard it from a dev.
I tried Pascal around the same time I experimented with drugs, and for similar reasons.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Pascal programmer.

CON: Niche language
Most use of this language will be found in jobs supporting legacy code. It will be hard to find things to do with this language outside of that niche.

I see pascal/delphi as the same thing really.
And wouldn't you know it,. I still use it for my job on a daily basis. It's a niche language I will grant you that, but it's alive and well, just not in high demand. -> http://www.barnsten.com

If you don't mind me asking, what are you using Pascal for? I've always thought it's a pretty interesting language, just not in a very high demand.

That is not true at all. I work as a full time Delphi developer and we create new products all the time. Almost every developer i know work with Delphi (and C++) so this its just media hype that Delphi is legacy.

I think it came from FORTH. It is a write-only language.

My POV is that it you got it for free, I don't give a flying hoot if you can read it or not! Pay me and I'll document my code for you! Otherwise just be happy you got it at all...

I mean, I agree.
But in seriousness, I kind of appreciate people being interested in what I code because it forces me to do something I should have done in the first place if I want to share it - document it!
posting my code here means my code got better.

Sure.
But if you make it difficult, then when you start charging for it, I'll look elsewhere -- and I won't care how much effort you put into a last-minute rush to document it.

I am not a coder really, but my attitude is someone will have to mod it, try to make their life less hard, I have had to mod live code ("change this, but make it look like we haven't!") so I tend to leave detailed comments for the next time some poor so & so has to mod it (more often than not me!!)...
