Little suggestion: make the tests fail woefully if the air conditioning system has even a minor defect.

Levitt & Dubner make such colorful descriptions that you sometimes think they go too far. They do make a number of fascinating observations, though. I don't think I would base a Ph.D dissertation on the information they present (unless confirmed by other reliable sources). Nevertheless I believe that most of their facts are reasonably correct; only the presentation is made with a funny twist.
