That was not something I ever expected to hear - but I'm glad I did!
Excellent - Thanks Bill!

Ancient programmer: a string is a series of characters ending in a null terminator.
Modern programmer: a string is an object the size of Wales.
Future programmer: maybe the ancients weren't so stupid.

I see 0s and 1s, neatly arranged, and sometimes represented as hexadecimal for convenience. Poor luxury. Looks like my future has been set in stones for 40 years.

Powered on my computer this morning.
I have a bit of a weird setup, two big monitors with the laptop behind those facing in the opposite direction.
Since I can't fit the laptop and the two monitors next to each other the laptop is always closed.
So this morning the monitors stayed black.
Opened my laptop to see my login screen there, but once I'm logged in everything becomes unresponsive.
Hard reset.
Try again, and again I have to login on my laptop, but now my screen is duplicated on the first monitor.
So I close my laptop and it goes to sleep.
Open it up again and the screen comes back.
Set the monitor as my main monitor and set it to extend, my laptop becomes the main screen.
Switch it, figure out that the second monitor was disconnected completely.
About thirty minutes later I'm all set up again.
Did Windows install an update or something?

Win10 seems to have difficulty with multiple resolution monitors...

Mine doesn't - it copes with 1080x1920, 1680 x 1050, and 1280 x 1024 at the same time perfectly.
The only thing I do get is the HDMI connected one (HDMI, VGA, and DVI in that order) occasionally goes blank for a split second when I plug the hoover in ... maybe a loose cable or a poor fit connector.

With the initial release(s), maybe so, but lately if an update changes my monitor layout/resolution at the login prompt, then it tends to manage to revert back to what it should be on its own by the time I've logged in and reached the desktop. Of course, YMMV.
I'm running off of 3 monitors each using a different resolution: 4K TV (3820x2160), 24" monitor in portrait mode (1200x1920), and a 27" monitor (1920x1080).
As mentioned, with the initial releases, it just about never got it right after updates, but seems to have settled and I haven't really had to deal with that for quite a while now.
All bets are off when there's a video driver update however. Which may be why I haven't had any problem recently...

it's normal to detect a windows update has been installed by the things that have gone missing or stop working.

Weeding dandelions out of the verge a few years ago, neighbour saw what I was doing. His comment: "If I dug the dandelions out there'd be nothing left." I had to agree...
