this really deserves multiple up-votes, not only is it 5/7/5, it evokes self-referential resonances on more floors than your average motel

My aunt and uncle raised me and they had a huge German Shepherd and he knew what time the mail man delivered so he would wait by the door and as soon as the mail came through the slot he would grab it with his mouth pull it through and drop it then commence to snarl and bark. Scared the crap out of the mail man.

Hi All,
I moaned earlier on about someone having a go at my Fleabay account, well I was at lunch sorting through emails and there's one from Amazon... a one time password request was mad on my account...
Hmmm time to talk to someone...

I never use my assigned work laptop for anything other than work, and code project, news sites, etc. I don't do social media, and I never, ever check my email using it. I have been following that policy since around 2012 when I adopted it.
I do get my email via the cell phone though, which is normally how I do that anywhere I am at. I am on a VPN so security and anonymity is slightly elevated than not.

I use my phone, I avoid using my personal email on work owned/managed machine because well I have 'those' kind of friends...I meant checking my personal email (on my phone) while at work.

Ah, I see. I work from home (contractor) so I use my own internet connection when not connected to the company VPN. My phone uses my home/person internet, not the companies VPN connection.

Is your email server not communicating to you via SSL or something else secure?

So I work for Client X.
Client X works with third party A to do their system administration.
They also have a Microsoft Dynamics application which is managed by third party B.
I'm in a project with third party C who does the communication with party B (which is basically everything this party does...).
So now I need a file sync to get files from Dynamics into Azure.
We did this a few months ago, so I called A and they somehow installed it on the Domain Controller
So we need to change that now, but party A knows nothing about Dynamics and they want black on white that they can install it on the server that's running Dynamics.
But none of us know anyone at party B and getting party C into this would mean there are two additional people between B and me
Meanwhile, Client X just wants us to fix this, but has no idea what everyone is up to.
I currently have someone on site (party D, if you like), and party A has two people on site.
With the application manager and the IT manager you'd think we should be able to do something today...
My guess is that once we know which server is the right one we need to install updates in order to install the Azure File Sync, which requires a restart, which isn't possible during business hours.
That would mean they'd have to restart the server tonight and we'll have to continue this on another day when they're on site again.
This has been going on for two weeks now.
It seems I'm finally getting my DNS records today though.[^]
Installing the file sync and adding the DNS records should be less than an hour work...
