So I work for Client X.
Client X works with third party A to do their system administration.
They also have a Microsoft Dynamics application which is managed by third party B.
I'm in a project with third party C who does the communication with party B (which is basically everything this party does...).
So now I need a file sync to get files from Dynamics into Azure.
We did this a few months ago, so I called A and they somehow installed it on the Domain Controller
So we need to change that now, but party A knows nothing about Dynamics and they want black on white that they can install it on the server that's running Dynamics.
But none of us know anyone at party B and getting party C into this would mean there are two additional people between B and me
Meanwhile, Client X just wants us to fix this, but has no idea what everyone is up to.
I currently have someone on site (party D, if you like), and party A has two people on site.
With the application manager and the IT manager you'd think we should be able to do something today...
My guess is that once we know which server is the right one we need to install updates in order to install the Azure File Sync, which requires a restart, which isn't possible during business hours.
That would mean they'd have to restart the server tonight and we'll have to continue this on another day when they're on site again.
This has been going on for two weeks now.
It seems I'm finally getting my DNS records today though.[^]
Installing the file sync and adding the DNS records should be less than an hour work...

Well, that's a nice story.
What are you going to do about it ?
I'd rather be phishing!

Complain about in on CP.
That'll teach them!
Well, it seems it worked as this guy really did his best to make it work this time and it seems the file sync is fixed.
The DNS records have to be entered by yet another party, but the request is on its way, so thumbs crossed

Party on, Wayne.
Should I talk about one of my project where project management is in asia, design is located in 2 different european countries, production of the different parts of the system in 3 other different european countries, assembly inhouse in latin america, and final assembly of the product in the target customer product in south africa. And we are talking about mechanical parts, so this includes shipping, etc...

From this earlier thread, there yet remained an unsolved question issue [^] (must remain current!)
In an inspirational dream, sort of, with far reaching effects much akin to those of Kekule solving the structure of benzene[^], I deduced the following:
The paper is produced at it's current width in order to fit on the cardboard roll without overlap.

Wrong. Totally wrong.
The width of toilet paper is a compromise between saving money and material and the average width of a paw, so that said paws don't get brown and smelly too often.

I don't think so - at some point we have to accept a bit of humor and good-natured prodding.
Indeed, keeping real politics and religion out of the lounge, and KSS, &etc. is sensible and the rule-of-law, but aside from the joke-icon on my post it just picks up on the poster's stuff, running with them - as he did with my post.
Admittedly, this will be a fine line to dance about, but remember: context is everything - and laughter probably makes prolonging one's life actually worthwhile.

Nah, we do not need a soapbox. All we need for one successful Brexit are the following things:
1 moon
1 moonbase manned with as many Brits as you can fit in
All our nuclear waste
Throw everything together on the moon and the rest will be unavoidable[^].

well, they do say 'preview,' and, it is a separate download (see SuperLloyd's post here [^] for more detail).
and, 'preview' gets you:
a design experience which cannot recognize a high-dpi screen no matter the AutoScaleMode setting.
long periods when VS stalls
inability to select and resize Controls on a Form, or the Form itself: that may be related to the high-dpi screen problem
butt-ugly Form Windows that at run-time look nothing like the design-time view
i guess 'preview' means 'not usable now' ... at least, for me

Well.. the fact that they stressed it was not ready meant.. that it was not ready.. unfortunate!
I wonder how well and good it will be in a few month though.. Be sure to let us know!

If you went to a free movie preview, and all you saw on screen was either film-grain, or random images, would you stay for the show ?
