if there is one thing i am sure of, it is that Chris had a good reason for removing it ... its absence means nothing to me because i almost never used it ... the Lounge has always met my needs for recreation, entertainment, social contact, spouting off, friendly jabbering, and semantic dueling, etc.
and, yes, i've been beating my dead horse about code in the Lounge for a long time: i'll spare you telling you why, again (hint: curation => lasting accessibility, and value).
as mentioned on the other SB thread today, i agree we are now seeing spillage of former SB material here, and that is annoying ... if i choose to read that.
there will always be individuals on (permissive) public forums that will troll, or act-out personal psychodramas that are disruptive, grandiose, narcissistic, etc. my experience is they tend to flame-out, or push the limits so far they get kicked-out.
now: let's take a deep breath, and then remind ourselves we are (diverse) members of a remarkable community !

And in a few years, 5 or 10, those of us old-timers that are still alive will be waxing on the good 'ol days when there was a Soapbox. And the youngin's will all be wondering what we're gabbing on about!

What, like the old timers who are still bemoaning the loss of "the back room"?
Or "Soapbox 1.0"?

You are not old, yet, my friend

I miss the Back Room. We should bring it forward.

I agree.
Never went to the soapbox much.
Found it a bit disappointing mostly.
The lounge is the best.
Always has been.

That makes me wish that this 'post PC era' I heard so much of would finally come.

Even if they get into a TIFF, I wouldn't have JPEG'd them as being the violent sort.
