You're up tomorrow for the final themed one for the week I guess.

So I have to do some WinForms development now.
Tried to add a form to the project, but all I got was a regular class.
The designer worked for other forms.
Then I remembered the VS installer has a specific button for installing desktop development.
So I fire up the installer, install a 4 GB update ( ), choose to modify my installation and check desktop development.
It seems my 20 GB editor was missing 4 MB of files to do proper desktop development

That's what you get for not installing EVERYTHING to start with!

That would make it a 40 GB installation

If you have a 1TB HD, that's only 4% of the space. You're complaining about 0.4%?
There's an old saying that when moving into a larger home, we accumulate things to fill the available space. This appears to be true for HD as well ...

Even VB.net?

Actually... That's exactly what I need for this project
Just solved an issue with the old Entity Framework designer which generated a namespace on my computer, but not on the computer of the original developer.
After a database update all of the code stopped working.
The pragmatic fix is to just remove the conditional namespace generation from the T4 templates

It wouldn't be a problem if you could really choose to install everything on e.g. a big D: disk instead of the small C: SSD.
Last time I installed VS2017, it still installed the bulk on the C: drive
|
|
|
|
|
I have everything on my "small" C: SSD, but I could (just barely) fit another 4 MB on it
|
|
|
|
|
I have installed on D: with no problems. you just have to be ready for it right at the start when it asks for customisation.
- I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

Spelling error, you meant ":DD"
|
|
|
|
|
Easy: just have a ginormous SSD C drive.

Now why didn't I think of that, must be Dutch cheapskate mentality

I just don't want to have to deal with the speed of physical drives ever again.

Indeed. I just checked the latest prices and finally 1TB can be had for $100 USD. It wasn't that long ago that I settled on .5 of the storage for 1.5 that price.

Seven months ago - yes that long ago, I began experimenting with IdentityServer for my personal learning and development. So far I am learning the limits of my tolerance and developing a strong desire to throw my toys out of the pram.
I will try formulate a coherent plea for help on the relevant discussion board next week. I know its a case of PICNIC (Problem in chair not in computer) because the corresponding quickstart works with no intervention, but despite all the resources that I can find on line, I cannot get my API to authenticate since I had to change laptops earlier this month. I had been aping the quickstart on the previous machine and now I want to be able to set my own address, names etc.
This is not the forum for technical specifics but I would like to know what sentiment is out there based on using IdentityServer4.

Given that I have nothing of value to contribute to your question:
1) I've never heard of IdentityServer
2) If it's on version 4, seems like it's having a bit of an identity crisis of its own.

We are using it with success. I quite like it.

I really like what it offers and it is not a difficult concept to harness. It is beyond belief that it has been so problematic.
I had intended promoting it to my employer when we introduced api add ons in the spring but held back due to not having a working example of how I did it.

Most security API have frustration of their users as their main or only goal!
I too feel the pain (with a more antiquated technology: ADFS)
I hope I won't have to touch it again...
