So I set the build option "Show output window when build starts." In all previous versions of VS, it would switch to the output window. That's what "Show output window" means, right?

why worry, vs21 coming soon (means whatever state 19 is in it'll stay there).
don't get too excited but rumor has it with 21 there will be a new icon.
the rest, that is what they don't remove, will be familiar but 'better'
and more new obscure (mostly unnecessary for people that craft decent code) c# features too
- the kiddies will go wild ... yay!!! let's update 90% of the git repositories even though it's still in preview
