There are lots of possibilities:
loose or a broken cable to the display,
logic board is cracked where putting pressure on the hinges moves it,
a connector is broken or,
a cracked solder joint
or any combination of the above

This seems like a hardware issue to me. The BSOD is unexpected from a hardware problem of this nature but I expect it is because a connection is intermittent. The signal activates once and starts the sleeping procedure then it deactivates and and reactivates while the procedure is still in process and that results in the BSOD. That is just my guess though.
You should definitely begin taking backups.

Last night my wife come home from work with five new ceiling fans because "none of the ceiling fans in the house are the same".
Because I had scheduled other (car) stuff for the remainder of the evenings , I was forced to install them immediately.
When we went to bed, we're both laying there, staring up at one of the new fans (which looked huge because we installed the UFO-sized light dome. It was perfectly balanced, so it wasn't doing anything but moving air. There was no wobling, or ticking - just the sound of air being moved. It bothered us both so much that we couldn't sleep.

You're not a huge fan of huge fans, I gather!

The old fans didn't have the light dome, and the blades on the new fan were the same size as the old fan. I think it was the light dome that was freaking us out...

Exhaust fan?
Are you thinking of a turbo?
I doubt John has that.

Turbos are gay.
If you're running boost, and it's all under the stock hood, you ain't doin' it right.

The old fan made a noise? You felt like Vinnie last night, couldn't sleep in the quiet.

I get it. I have tinnitus from years spent working in an old school computer room: an acre of mainframes, the old washing-machine style disk drives, and line printers, producing an incredible amount of noise. I have to sleep with a fan running or the ringing in my ears will keep me awake.

QA in video form
Not gonna lie, I had to do a "live coding challenge" as part of a remote interview once and googling syntax in one window while trying to continue typing in the code window to hide the fact that you're google in the background was pretty challenging....I'm sure they were onto me
|
|
|
|

A "live code challenge" should not preclude one from using google. I google pretty much everything before doing any coding. It's not "cheating" - it's "coding". There's simply TOO MUCH to learn nowadays, and there's no way a normal person can learn and retain it all. Expecting that is not only unreasonable, but is absurd as well.

Totes agree...
Plus, even if I already know how to do something, if it's been a while since I last did it, I Google it anyway just to see if there are any newer techniques being used, or better frameworks, etc.

Obviously I know that and you know that....but they got real suspicious if I stopped typing for even a few moments asking if I was ok. Typical interview BS that is more about jumping through hoops than the real world. The test involved using an ArrayList which is something I've literally never used because, well, why would you? It is a non-strongly-typed relic from before the days of generics. After I worked out what the heck it was and how you put things in and got things out I think they were testing how robust the code I was writing was, ie was I using "as" and "is" etc and not just assuming types and casts.

I would have probably started my answer with "Nobody in their right-f*ckin mind uses an ArrayList ."
