They choose to do this - not because it is hard, but because it is easy!
I, for one, like Roman Numerals.

This was decades in the making. Next year it should all come full circle with a mascot named Spark-e.
Until then I anxiously anticipate being able to double click on the new blue poo emoji so I can download big boy chrome on my new PC.

Good grief. I remember years ago when these guys just made a virtual machine. Now, in their downloads section, they have hundreds of "products" and I have no idea which one is just the the VM host. Maybe Google can help.
[edit]Maybe found what I'm looking for[^].[/edit]
OK, when did this start to cost $250 for the Pro version? The free "player" version doesn't run on Windows. And I need to use VMWare because that's what the customer is using, and I need to test the proxy application I wrote locally here. Company has no problems paying the $250, it's just annoying, when (last I checked) VirtualBox is free and works great.

If you are searching for the free version, I think you are searching for the Workstation Player.

Yup, and the free version can't be hosted in Windows.

I'm using it every day, so the issue must be elsewhere
Can you describe the context/error message received?

Really? Here's their host OS list:
Host Operating Systems (64-bit)
Ubuntu 14.04 and above
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 & above
CentOS 6.0 and above
Oracle Linux 6.0 and above
openSUSE Leap 42.2 and above
SUSE Linux 12 and above
I don't see Windows!

OK, what's up with that. I clicked on the download link anyways, and what do I see?

I used to be a VMware fan, when they had just started off, but these days their product offerings are just incomprehensible nonsense to me. By needlessly complicating things, they've pushed me over to the free Hyper-V and I've never looked back.
This, to me, is a perfect example of marketing killing sales opportunities.

So whoever solves this gets to decide the theme ?

Provided it fits with the clue / answer, and doesn't involve Harry Potter ...

Yeah, you got it.
Hopefully I was careful enough to avoid any links to Harry Potter in there.

Now I have to think of a theme

Perhaps just go with the obvious one.... styles of outdoor flooring!
