Yeah, but nobody died. This joke isn't a real story.

While the original joke offended you, there is no room here for language like that.
I strongly suggest that you edit these two messages, and tone them down to be non-abusive while you still have an account ...
Taking offense to a joke is understandable, but the language you have used to express that offense is clearly unacceptable.

Have you ever had a friend actually die in front of you??
It's not a joke, it's just morbid

If I would be my usual me, I'd answer : "Yes, I did. He was even asking me why I stabbed him with this butcher knife". but since this subject seems to touch a nerve on your side, I will simply pass on and not put more oil on the fire.

Not jokes: I have lost one than one friend in front of me. One died in my arms after an aneurysm, another died from a heart attack despite me doing CPR until the ambulance arrived. Another was shot during a battle with bandits in Hong Kong many years ago. He was telling jokes to cheer himself up and reassure us he was OK. He died at the hospital a couple of days later.
I can joke about death and am not offended by jokes about death - it is part of our lives we need to accept.

This sounds like right out of a movie.

I had never been in a real battle before (or since). It was in the 1980's. We were providing military support and assistance to the British Hong Kong police who were having to deal with gangs of kidnappers and robbers that came over the border from China and then would run back over the border to get away. We were in pursuit of one group, they were armed with machine guns and opened fire on us, we returned fire - the battle lasted all of 10 seconds. They got away from us but the Chinese army got them (surrounded them and shot them all dead, just over the border).

I hit one of them when we returned fire and he went down. His friends dragged his body off with them and then a few minutes later they were all shot by the Chinese army. Because of this I will never know if I actually killed him or just wounded him. I lie awake at night worrying about this, even though it didn't make any difference to him overall, it is important to me to know - and I'll never know.

Oh, that's good to know. I thought his account was closed for him, which would've been rather harsh.

That's just a guess, though. I have no way to know for sure who closed the account. Just the timing of the whole story. Community was on the path to calm things down at that time.

... and it seems to be my ISP ... but it's affecting CP: I report a spammer, and it goes to the home page, link pasting isn't working, I can't get to Google at all, though Bing is available ... and DownDetector is saying there is a country wide problem with my ISP. I have full internet via my phone, but sites are patchy.
Very strange.

Oh man, Paul...
You were complaining that the antivirus didn't work for you and your wife... I think you have now infected the router.

As I'm using BT at the moment, when don't they? HomeHubs are an exercise in poor thermal managment.
