I'm having trouble with nuisance calls for a week or two now - the most common one seems to be "You said you would be back from the pub 3 hours ago!"

Just slam the phone down: most satisfying !!

Now there's an idea for a mobile phone app that would be really popular! One that makes the sound of a phone being slammed when disconnecting! Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if there were multiple versions of this already. The problem is that people under a certain age wouldn't understand it!

... followed by a dial tone

I used to have a satisfying joke
q) what goes 'beep, beep, beep' ?
a) ends call/puts phone down
used to p*ss off my brother

Yes, me being somewhat of age for a moment I forgot about the mobile phone where the slamming does not work as well. But I agree an app to simulate the action would be very popular.

Mind you slamming down a mobile is satisfying for both ends of the call: The slammer gets to end the call, and the slamee knows the other guy just smashed his expensive screen ...

whoops
hope you & 'er indoors are ok & improving - I've seen reports from people 'hit hard' by Covid-19, and all say the same thing ... lack of energy and breath, takes a long time to get things done - so just take it easy and build up - any forward movement is good, and any day above ground is a good day indeed

We're taking it easy-ish: I can't mow the lawn (Hoorah!) because it means multiple trips up and down the stairs to the lower garden to dispose of the cuttings, and that would wipe me out. But we're getting there - herself has just been signed-off as sick by the doctor due to "Covid toe" (a nasty bunch of big painful fungal infected blisters on her feet) so she'll be taking it easy anyway!

We've all been there - Management want what can't be done: COVID Go | CommitStrip[^]
Explains why the Welsh tracing system isn't up yet, the UK one is all manual, the Isle of Wight trial[^] failed, ... and that's ignoring that most people don't trust their government to know where they are at all times ...

It's a bit like the story of drawing seven red lines with a blue pen, all perpendicular, and in the form of a kitten.
"Come on, you're the expert, right? You should know better..."
"Five fruits and vegetables a day? What a joke!
Personally, after the third watermelon, I'm full."

Correct, the government should not know where you are all the time and most of all should not know every penny/cent you earn because whatever cent/penny you own they know about will be taxed sooner or later. However high the taxes they force upon you, it is never enough because their requirements are simply a bottomless pit.

"We just have to show progress." -- My boss
Concerning the tracking effort, my wife and I have concluded that not only won't it work, but that the primary outcome will be fewer people getting tested.
Anyway, this will probably all be over in a couple of years, we just have to wait it out.

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you

What does that mean? Stay indoors for the next couple of years? Wear masks for the next couple of years? No group events for the next couple of years?
