because dating is now illegal.
It is also illegal to have sleepovers. My kid just had a friend spend the night recently but luckily it isn't illegal here.
Any of you do onsite support? I guess you can't do that anymore because you can't have more than 2 people indoors if they are not from the same household. Are any of you trying to sell a house? I guess you can't do that either now, right?
Is this law impacting you much or are people just ignoring it?
Crazy times.

Most people are following the guidance, some more strictly than others. We visited some of our family yesterday, but did enter the house (by mistake of course).

So, they lost a sale. Luckily for me, we had one showing and then got an offer. In the US it was never illegal to show a home for sale but when I saw this new law in the UK I wondered how it affected things like that.

There are allowances for a number of situations, but it really boils down to people using common sense. Sadly common sense is pretty rare these days.

Slacker007 wrote: crazy stupid laws, more like it. Yes, and obvious. But that is a political discussion and I didn't want to go there. I'm not even sure how much of a political discussion you could even have beyond "It's stupid" but I suppose there are those that believe it to be a good law.
But I wonder how much it affects people in their everyday lives or if they just ignore it. I do find it interesting that the mantra used to be "flatten the curve" but then when we did that many places tightened up restrictions instead of loosening them.

One wouldn't require "crazy stupid laws" if people were capable of using their brains. If people used their brains for actual thinking there would be need for very few laws, indeed!
But generally, people don't use their brains.
So they need laws to replace their lack of common sense.
There is one problem, of course, with this. An assumption that lawmakers would use there brains and have common sense. Instead, they have replaced it with political ambition and pandering.
And so, here we are.

You're right, sort of. One of the people calling for more common sense (here on CP) also claims that not wearing a mask is the same as murder.
So, common sense is subjective and doesn't really mean much.

just so you know, "at risk" groups for covid are the same exact "at risk" groups for most strains of flu. The sames strains of flu that kill these "at risk" people every year.
the media has you thinking covid is special, it really isn't. and now we are finding out that the mortality rate for covid is coming back inline with a bad flu season, just like Johns Hopkins originally said at the beginning of all of this.
I am an insulin dependent diabetic - at high risk. I stand the same chance of dying from the flu as I do with covid 19.
I don't shrug it off, I just don't think crazy and stupid laws are the answer.

I am not trying to convince you, just giving my views.
And I trust that you are keeping safe also. My eldest son is type 1 diabetic (for the last 40 years) so I have a little experience of the condition.

Hope you don't have a business if you live in the US as some rioters are probably robbing it and burning it down while the police do nothing, the government does nothing, and the media supports and celebrates it

Ya, there are a lot of evil people in this world and then even more stupid people that follow them.
F-ES Sitecore wrote: while the police do nothing, the government does nothing Not sure what you mean there, there's been tons of complaints about how the police and government are handling things. In fact, lots of cops have been killed trying to help maintain peace. That's not nothing.
F-ES Sitecore wrote: the media supports and celebrates it Yes, the Left has been evil and corrupt for decades. But there are too many stupid people and so the Left keeps doing it.

One minute your media is criticising people for going to the beach because of covid-19....the next there is zero mention of covid-19 and they are celebrating mass gatherings while people loot, riot and murder. But yeah....whatabout those Brits, huh?

I agree. Our media is corrupt and evil. Pure and simple. And too many people are too stupid and just follow them.

If I wanted to bash on the UK there is plenty of material to do so and wouldn't need to sneak it in here. That was not my intent. As mentioned in the OP, I'm curious how it affects their daily lives, which after all, is the purpose of the Lounge as stated at the top.

Oh, we just cower in fear waiting for an unstoppable violent mob buoyed up by false beliefs perpetrated by people who have been intimidated into rejecting their own beliefs and adopting the mob's, keeping a frenzy of violence going that won't stop until everyone submits to mob rule because common sense and reason is trampled on like a shopkeeper's face with people too scared to speak up in case they're next, not realising that they're going to be next regardless of how many hash tags they virtue signal and how many black boxes they post on Instagram.
No wait....that's you...I just try and keep 2m apart from people while I'm at the shops. Shops that haven't been looted. And aren't on fire.
