If you need something stronger than coffee in the morning, delete a production database instead

Wow. I have never dropped a production database before, but I did manage to accidentally delete a month's worth of credit card transactions from a production database before. Luckily after restoring from backup, we only had a days worth to reenter. The problem was that the company received several thousand transactions per day. That was a nightmare.
"When you are dead, you won't even know that you are dead. It's a pain only felt by others; same thing when you are stupid."
Ignorant - An individual without knowledge, but is willing to learn.
Stupid - An individual without knowledge and is incapable of learning.
Idiot - An individual without knowledge and allows social media to do the thinking for them.

How did you even know what to reenter?
|
|
|
|

It was a company that sold merchandise similar to what Etsy sells. We had the original orders along with the CC information, but the actual transaction itself, such as sub totals, taxes, and final totals were missing. We had to put the order page on hold and got a team together to hand calculate the missing values and reenter the transaction records. I was lucky that I didn't lose my job that day. That was back in 2006 and I still get embarrassed when I think about it.

This time the "never touch a running system" has proven its wisdom
I hope you get somehow a workaround.

I guess this is my punishment for mixing private accounts with business accounts.
To be fair, I didn't have business accounts when I started out, just the email address.
So now I wanted to move my business email address to my business Azure tenant.
Thinking I really didn't use it on my private tenant was, apparently, naive
What I find especially weird, is that the customer account has absolutely nothing to do with my private account, yet they are somehow linked because I'm a guest in their Azure AD and my account HAS to come from my private tenant.

Oops!
Like when you run a SQL statement without the where clause.
Or when you are on a RDP connection and want to refresh the NW connection and type ipconfig /release and then realize you've cut yourself off without a way to issue the /renew command.
I've locked myself out of one of our systems before. Running command via SQL was enabled so I was able to use that to run some commands remotely and log in again.

Do you happen to be from Crete?
(I ask because some people say that behind every paradox lies a Cretan.)

No, but I used to go there every year for quite a while. Not for a vacation, but for work. And when whe were done, the boss had to pay for about 40 men getting drunk and usually granted one or two days off for all.

In the |980s, lots of people made "self referencing sentences". One of the classical one was "This sentence contains sofa six words". The sofa had to be in there to make the statement true.

The one I remember is Scott Kim's This sentence no verb. quoted by Douglas Hofstadter (in GEB, iirc).
Software rusts. Simon Stephenson, ca 1994. So does this signature. me, 2012
