I don't know. I'm not counting them. And quite frankly, no one is counting them accurately anyway.

Plus, as Scrooge would say, "get rid of the surplus population".
In the US, the death toll is 200,000. Now consider this: the detected case count is about seven million. Seven million is about 2% of the population.
Now . . . . extrapolate ! Even if it's off by a damn order of magnitude in case count we're still looking at an additional 800,000 dead! I doubt the error's nearly that large and the horror all the greater for it.
It boggles my mind that any politician (let alone any human being) could allow this to be politicized as we hear the CDC change its story, on a daily basis it seems, so as not to offend! Another casualty of the unthinkably politicized pandemic is confidence in the CDC and similar (formerly) reputable institutions throughout the world.

Regardless of numbers, just use your brain. It's that simple.

I really don't envy the people of the US, having to vote for either of the two, (creepy old guys), in the presidential election. It was bad enough here in the UK, (with Bozo v Jezza), but you guys in the US have well and truly trumped us!

In the US, you're 76 more times to become a traffic fatality than a Wuhan Coronavirus fatality. Numbers are from the CDC.

But if you see over your entire lifetime, or even from the day you were born until today, you will see that there are lots more traffic deaths than corona deaths.
We all know that corona will disappear by April (although I am not quite sure if we are talking about this year or next year). Traffic deaths will remain with us forever. Corona is a temporary thing. Do the statistics in a more suitable time frame, and then you will see that Corona deaths is like a short fad that we probably could easily ignore.
We did that with the Black Death, and it worked then. Why shouldn't it work as well this time?

I really didn't know if I should reply to this or not - as I suspect you are just trying to wind me up! But here goes. Let's just go back to the original claim:
Quote: In the US, you're 76 more times to become a traffic fatality than a Wuhan Coronavirus fatality. Admittedly obermd hasn't given any timescales, but I think that omission, means we can assume he is talking about right now - in the middle of the pandemic, which has already killed 200,000 in the US. Based on the 2019 figures, there have probably been circa 20,000 traffic fatalities in the US during the period of the pandemic.
So, right now, (which is surely what we need to focus on), you are 10 times more likely to be killed by COVID-19, than you are by a vehicle. Yes, one day we won't need to worry about COVID-19, (just like, at some point in the future, we probably won't need to worry about getting hit by a vehicle), but that's irrelevant.
Here's another (pointless) statistic: 80 million people died in WW2 and about 1 million have so far died, world-wide, from CODID-19. Does that mean I am 80 times more likely to die in a World War, than I am from the virus?

I feel for people working in shops who will now have to wear a mask all day long - that just sounds like hell.
Also pubs having to provide table service and close by 10pm is slightly bonkers and will really hit some smaller pubs.

I wore a mask when I went to get groceries. I went to two or three places and even wore the mask in the car between visiting those places. When I got home I unpacked and put away the groceries and then went and read a book, watched a film and only remembered I had a mask on when I made a cup of tea and tried to drink!
The mask was properly fitted, comfortable and not in the least inconvenient, except for eating and drinking, obviously.
What's the big deal with wearing a mask? If you think it is choking you then you are wearing it wrong. My son has asthma and wears a mask with no problem. A friend smokes but she wears a mask at all other times without any issues.
Wearing a mask protects others from your spit and protects protects you from breathing their exhalations. Just wear it, get used to it. Make sure you are wearing a proper mask and wearing it properly - it's supposed to cover your nose as well as your mouth! If it isn't comfortable, get another mask that is.
My company sold masks (to raise charity money, we do a lot of that) so I bought a couple. They were quite snazzy but were also too small, tight and uncomfortable. So I carried on wearing my other masks. No problem.
