Lovely dogs. We've often thought we'd like a greyhound ourselves.
Our current dog is a 3 way split - Border collie + Whippet from Dad, Husky from mum. She's quite a handful.
The previous one was somewhat of unknown provenance. She was abandoned in a cardboard box at the gates of the rescue in December with the rest of her litter, the box of course got wet, they all got out and were discovered over a period of days. Ours was the last to be found, running around hungry in a field with the horses. All 6 were nursed back to health - one of them had rickets which was corrected - and as best can be told they were predominantly deerhound crossed with Bedlington terrier with some other random breeds along the way. She was one of two rough coated, along with "Ricky" - the others were relatively smooth. She was a lovely dog, a bit timid but very faithful to my partner, barely leaving her side over 12 years.

If you do get a greyhound, be aware you need to have sofa-to-dog ratio greater than one .
They are the world's fastest couch potatoes.

Yeah, figures. They do like a stretch lie down, from what I hear.
Our own dog has her own sofa, and multiple beds where she can keep a watchful eye on goings on, but she still takes a chair that's just been vacated when she can, often coming up to whoever is currently sitting in it, and using her "husky-talk" wow-waw-wah-wah-waw, meaning shift your a$$, I want that.

Spent few minutes consuming my daily java and observing workers to
add yellow frame around traffic lights
The immediate effect was to create traffic jam and indirectly causing
"fender bender" - thus further reducing 4 lanes of traffic to one....
My burning question - will adding yellow frame around traffic light HELP TO
reduce / eliminate / affect speeding drivers with
mentality " I do not care, I am going thru ..."
from going thru RED light ?
|
|
|
|
|
Surprisingly, that is exactly what they are intended to do:
The yellow frames around the perimeter of traffic lights are called reflective backplates. They are designed to help motorists see the signals more easily during morning and evening hours, in areas of visual clutter where the lights might otherwise be obscured, and in areas where lights are oddly spaced.

It helps to prosecute them. It makes it harder to say you never saw the lights.

Miley's, or HtCW's?
Miley's are easy enough to find.

One of my favvorites:
Three couples, an elderly couple, a middle-aged couple and a
young newlywed couple wanted to join a church. The pastor said,
"We have special requirements for new parishioners. You must
abstain from having sex for two weeks."
The couples agreed and came back at the end of two weeks. The
pastor went to the elderly couple and asked, "Were you able to
abstain from sex for the two weeks?"
The old man replied, "No problem at all, Pastor."
"Congratulations! Welcome to the church!" said the pastor.
The pastor went to the middle-aged couple and asked, "Well,
were you able to abstain from sex for the two weeks?"
The man replied, "The first week was not too bad. The second
week I had to sleep on the couch for a couple of nights but,
yes, we made it."
"Congratulations! Welcome to the church!" said the pastor.
The pastor then went to the newlywed couple and asked, "Well,
were you able to abstain from sex for two weeks?"
"No Pastor, we were not able to go without sex for the two
weeks," the young man replied sadly.
"What happened?" inquired the pastor.
"My wife was reaching for a can of paint on the top shelf and
dropped it. When she bent over to pick it up, I was overcome
with lust and took advantage of her right there."
"You understand, of course, this means you will not be welcome
in our church," stated the pastor.
"We know," said the young man, "We're not welcome at Home
Depot anymore either."

I heard a similar version but it was bending over to get a chicken out of the bottom of the freezer, and Sainsbury's (Walmart in US, perhaps).

Sainsbury's is a bit upmarket - Asda would be closer to Walmart (and is owned by them as well).

True, good point about Asda, although Sainsbury's upmarket? No more so than Tesco, surely? Waitrose, perhaps.
|
|
|
|
|
|
True, although of course these days they're all competing with Aldi, and our nearest large Sainsbury's is often cheaper than the equivalent large Tesco.
If you're on Farcebook there's a group called "Overheard in Waitrose" which is supposed to be quite amusing. May have to join it myself.

And I've noticed that Tesco quality is pretty poor these days as well.
