If jerks are the best the site can manage, you're better off without it.
Have you considered starting your own Arduino / embedded coding site? Sounds like there isn't much quality competition ...

I haven't considered it as it's not really my wheelhouse - managing people that is.
I've been spending most of my time learning Arduino through trial and error just because the forums are so bad. I use them as a last resort, but the best they ever are for me is an (abusive) rubber duck so I tend to avoid them.

They are big fish in a little pond. Visit the site, participate and get what you can out of it while you contribute. Stay with the tech stuff, ignore the rest. Don't try to prove anything.
If you combat and get driven away, it is lose, lose.
As OG says, break out the popcorn.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

I've tried. I'm just sick of being abused there. It happens pretty much every time, and the place is just toxic, frankly.
I don't need that kind of dynamic in my life, so I'll pass. I could have left silently but then I'd have felt like a doormat, and I'd rather leave on my terms so I can put the place behind me, mentally and emotionally.

Thanks. I just ... got so frustrated when it was strongly insinuated that I was either lying about where my code would run or lying about it being my code.
"If you could write code like that you wouldn't be here asking for help" or some such, after I attached my code to my question post.
I mean am I completely out of line for getting angry over that?

In my opinion... not.

Getting banned? Perhaps.
Another possibility (my forte is life is possibilities, sometimes to excess),
I think, perhaps, the rude and arrogant replies were an audition. With the reply of which you just gave an accounting, I think you will soon be asked to become a moderator.
Are you up to the job?

I use(d) them as an absolute last resort when I couldn't find answers for arduinos anywhere else.
Like when my code itself was corrupting the Arduino simply by being uploaded, even when it wasn't run. That sort of thing that only people that play with Arduinos will have run into.
It's either that or avrfreaks and I've heard that place is as toxic.
The problem is there's nowhere else to go. It would be nice if there was an arduino forum here. I'd contribute, certainly.

You got my vote.
I've never been, specifically, to arduino.cc, but I have been rather vocal to moderators on some other site/forum I had been on for years after I had been pointing out that they were actively promoting what I referred to as "crapware" that really provided nothing of value (think registry cleaner type of software). I think they were sponsors of the site, and The Powers That Be didn't like me calling them out.
I'm not the type to burn bridges, but I made an exception in this case and left under no uncertain terms.

Thanks. I was angry both when I responded and when I wrote the CP post about my response**, but at least I know I'm not the only here that has been fed up enough with some place that they're just like "kill it with fire"
** some mod really pushed my buttons by insinuating I was lying about the code I wrote, or maybe about it being my code in the first place. It was hard to avoid taking it personally. I would have let it pass, but I've been put off by their attitudes toward *other* commenters there every time I am reduced to visiting (there's not many other places to go for arduino related questions esp about the toolchain and IDE)
