It certainly is. Great Plague of London - Exodus from the city

We have here a couple of cities / towns where the crematories are overfilled although they are making double shifts each day. Even the bureaucrats have to work and do extra hours during Christmas break because without the deceasal certificate, the crematories can't do their job.
Last year one binder was enough for 3 or 4 months... in dezember the binder was full by the 18th. And rate is increasing...
Pity is... the dumbs and the nuts usually have more luck than they deserve

With the cute hat, if you'd just make him blue for the holidays I sure I fix Bob up with Smurf babes[^] who take mistletoe "very seriously".

Why does Bob have to be blue? Is Smurfette racist?

Well, it's a little know secret, but Smurfs, as a group, are rather, um, uh, very "selective" about with whom they associate.
On the other hand, if Bob goes around dressed as he is in a real winter climate (He's in Canada, aye?) then he'll be turning blue soon enough.

Hi All,
Putting up the decorations today, I spent lock down working on some Adrino code for several set of WS2811 leds and various festive other things. Thanks to the black hole I tend to store stuff in (aka a 1 TB external drive) I can't find it! . So I spent most of the morning coding and soldering to get to where I should be (people can't come in this year so probably for the best a chance to prototype!). Probably because I wrote the code in the first place I knew pretty much what needed to go where. Now the lights are on the floor as I have to hunt the garage for the Christmas tree feet (last year we had only three!, timber). Yesterday I saw people stocking up on bread, milk & pasta to a manic extent (no toilet rolls, still got some from earlier?), it's closed for 48 hours. You have enough supplys to see out the sige of Stalingrad. Maddness.

You have enough supplys to see out the sige of Stalingrad. Maddness. It's a neurological disease that's been spreading northward for some years, now. It respects no borders.
It started, as best as I can remember, in Florida - stores suddenly being wiped out before hurricanes (which were invariably hyped as the worst (or one of the worst), yet). This spread northward and the connection to the brain became all to clear with the hoarding of toilet paper (medical proof[^]).
In case it comes to mind, there's no hope of a vaccine for this: there's no cure for stupid.

W∴ Balboos, GHB wrote: there's no cure for stupid So true. But these people are beyond stupid. If they actually stopped to think they would realise that even after their panic buying back in April, the shops were still restocked within a couple of weeks.

Thanks Griff!
Yes, I am offshore, left home 6-nov and here until end of January!
Bought myself a Celestron 11" Rasa telescope to celebrate, it got delivered a few days ago at home.
Today was a good start, rescued a green turtle that had got hung up in fishing line and floats which had then got entangled round the platform.
Grappling hook to get it onboard then cut it free and removed the fishing hooks from its neck and body. God their skin is tough! Anyway, it's free and released back into the gulf now, to live another Day.
Hope the rest of the day is peaceful!
P.s. 200k is knocking on the door....cough cough been a while hovering around!

You being offshore for the holydays seems to be constant... One may think you love the life better without the preparations and such

I know, it's been a bad few years of timing! It was bad enough missing the whole of summer as well.

Was the turtle wearing a red hat btw?
|
|
|
|

No but it was wearing about 6 polystyrene floats and bottles. Poor we thing had hooks embedded in it. Kept trying to swim under the water but couldn't get anywhere. The line was also wrapped round it's front left flipper cutting in.
It swam away quite happily when we had cleaned it up and put it back in the sea.

Have a couple of ups to get you closer - let's see if we can get you there today!
