Europe’s spaceport, flagship launcher ready for historic Webb mission – Spaceflight Now[^]
Quote: Arianespace, the launch operator for the Ariane 5 rocket, will oversee the countdown from two control centers at the spaceport. The Ariane 5 will be loaded with cryogenic liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen propellants beginning shortly after 2:30 a.m. EST (0730 GMT) Saturday, culminating in final technical and weather checks before launch at 7:20 a.m. EST (1220 GMT). Let's hope that the whole process, not just the launch, goes smoothly. I'd hate to see $10 billion "Lost in Space."

Ready?....
Call me back once it has launched!
I totally believed it will happen. Until then, I am waiting!

perfect launch.
It's good to see that they don't need pitch perfect weather for launch (sun, no cloud, no wind).
Interesting to see the trajectory going down in altitude before going up again.

May I please inquire if a means is known as to maintaining a low coefficient of friction on one's mouse pad I have considered Teflon spray until seeing "DANGER EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE" - Cheerio

|
Can you just maybe use a pane of glass? Not sure how that will interfere with the optical mouse, if at all.

Thanks for the help I forgot to mention I prefer a cushioned pad not a hard surface Happy Holidays

Show down and you won't have a problem with Teflon.

Just increase the mouse's movement sensitivity. It's the management motto. More with less!

If you have a vintage mouse with a trackball, you need to clean the trackball and rollers.
If your mouse doesn't have a trackball, enjoy the exercise that comes with a higher coefficient of friction!

Watching it right now... it's a sort of tragi-comedy.. where an asteroid is coming right at earth and going to extinguish all life in 6 months and... everybody is ignoring it!
Anyway, the main protagonists are a little bit funny, there is the anxious professor caricature (professor do public speech all the time, they should be more chill), and also they want everyone to be terrified. Which seems pointless to me. I mean it would be good if it could spur some government action.. but that puzzle me.. my right wing quarter brother also ask me what he is supposed to be scared about when talking about covid.. and I wonder why all these people keep talking about fear like if... what does fear matter at all?
I guess, in a very round about fashion, I am wondering, what's the deal with "fear"?! I don't quite see why a good number of people seems so obsessed with this feeling... I guess I don't have a TV and I am not keeping up with the mood of the times...
Altyhough, to take a stab in the dark, thinking of the popularity of scary movies I guess people just like to be afraid, perhaps? Who the hell knows!
Errmm... other than that I am enjoying that movie so far!
And Riley Bina should not go back to DJ Chello like that, pffft, so, like, superficial, you know?!

Found a (bit controversial) comment on IMDB:
Quote: If you're intelligent enough to understand satire, you'll love this. But if you're like the 70% of Americans too stupid to understand this kind of comedy, and feel this film is making fun of you (because it is), you might not get it. Don't Look Up (2021) - IMDb[^]
Ahem ...

There is a saying in my country, ha yea, we say "Americans!", that says it all!

Not here in America. We say Rednecks. And rednecks say "'Merica"(pronounced mur-i-cuh)

Haha.. I have seen the iconic picture...
My saying (not sure there is such a thing as that saying, but I pretend there is) could either be good or bad, just not neutral (like, f***). Because there are lots of crazy people in America. But there are lots of great people too!

I couldn't see it(no one could) and the moon was closer. But still scary, just like what happened to our friends and future overlords(see Jurassic Park...) the dinosaurs...

Random thought for y'all for Christmas!
Blackholes might very well be empty inside! 😮
I am not sure what happen to the original matter that formed the black hole, but anything else that fall in the black hole later will never cross the event horizon before the end of times... 😮
The reason is, while they all accelerate to incredible speed while falling (like 99.99999% of light speed) their time is also slowing to a freeze (gravity slow time)...
Which mean, good news, next time you fall into a black hole, you will only cross the event horizon by the end of times. So you might die, but very well after everything else in the universe has gone cold and dark.... 😮
And it will only take you 5 minute - of your own relative time, so you don't even have to wait! 😆
