For what it's worth, when I come to Windows Update problems:
(in a command prompt)
- net stop wuauserv
- del %systemdrive%\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\*.*
- chkdsk c: /r
- (answer yes to question)
- shutdown -r -f -t 0
- (re-try to update Windows once rebooted)

I would claim it's the %systemdrive%\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\*.* that needs to be deleted.

Indeed, yet practice shows that problems often occur in the .edb database. I use this small snippet more than once in a while, and it has until now proven efficient. Deleting the Download directory can't hurt, anyway.

Brilliant.
I've become so used to not using command prompts on Windows that I would probably never have got there.

I've installed it. I see the new apps. I see the distracting new wallpaper.
But I can't see anything else different.
I think I should ask for my money back.

What are you on about Maunder? I can't be arsed Googling your cryptic title clues.

Didn't I read somewhere that Apple was doing a great scene about this upgrade being free?
In my head popped up the idea that if it was so crappy and feature poor that they thought it would be better just to give it away and make a show out of it

Just installed it myself - did you not get the new Map and iBook icon on your desktop too?
I hope the map is better because the ad bumph suggests you can plan a route on the desktop and send it to your phone for turn-by-turn spoken instructions.
if that works I will love it!

Yeah - can't see I'll be reading many books on the iMac, and the Maps are the same as on the iPad (but do look nice on a 27" monitor).

Think different Chris!
Maybe you paid so that the OS doesn't change!!!

Now that is a really great idea.
I'm actually willing to pay quite a lot, not to "upgrade" to Win 'ate.
