He was also exceptional in the series The Way We Live Now.

Wow, does that mean all the episodes he did were Aggie Christie written, a few of the later ones seemed to be a little soften from the original character, I was assuming they were written in the 'style' of Aggie side note what 'Astings & Miss Lemon they were missing from the last few I saw...

Columbo is soooo much more entertaining.
Come to think of it, so is Monk!

The asking of that vital question, just as he was leaving a room and at the door was always my favourite part.

I really like Peter Ustinov as Poirot, but then again I'm not sure if I've ever seen David Suchet's impression of the figure. It's kind of hard to judge, if you don't have a comparison.
Cheers!

David Suchet is also good. I didn't care for Albert Finney, though.

Hmmm, I always though Ustinov wasn't 'dapper' enough for the part which Suchet is, Finney gave me impression he should have soup stains on shirt!

It was even worse with the new version of Murder...[^] starring Alfred Molina. Has anybloody had the misfortune of seeing that? If not, DON'T waste your time and aggravate your potential or real heart problems!

Elephant me!, why is it Americans always make such bad versions of Christie and try to Americanise the plot, really OJ Simpson! (true that dates it, but still) I suppose we Brits have done similar to Philip Marlow but come on...

Ustinov was fine
until I saw Suchet. Now I can't watch Peter Ustinov without wincing.
Same thing with anyone who's ever played Sherlock Holmes after I saw Jeremy Brett. Brett IS Holmes.

Call me old-fashioned, but I like Basil Rathbone.
I also like the new Sherlock movies with Iron Man - even though I don't think he's the right one to play Sherlock!
AND I also like the new Sherlock series with Benedict Cumberbatch - even though I DEFINITELY don't think he's the right one to play Sherlock!
But I REALLY don't like the new american Sherlock Holmes series with Jonny Lee Miller (ugly name - it's missing an "h") and Lucy Liu as Watson!!!!!!!!!!! What the elephant is that about?

Meh. Holmes isn't a damn action hero. As much as I love Robert Downey Jr, he has no place there. The scriptwriter, producers and directors should be shot.
I think Cumberbatch does a fine 'modern day homage' to Holmes. He's not the same character and they give him fair bit too many hamfisted "God, what must it be like for you stupid people to be so stupid all the time" lines. But I quite enjoy the treatment.
I've never seen that other show. Lucy Liu's best role was on Ally McBeal. She hasn't been interesting since.

How about Charlies Angels?

I'm SO looking forward to seeing "Curtain" - It's by far the best Poirot book of them all!
I really hope that someone will put it out on TPB REALLY soon so that us non-Brits can see it as well!

I shall not bother going there then. Had it been Shark Bay I would have gone but now the fluffy pussy brigade have taken over the Ocker Homeland I suppose it is just a matter of time before MM is wearing a tutu and sipping a pink gin.
