Oh, good luck for that sir.
Many times this happens, you get to see your idea being formulated into a reality and people making their fortune from what you were expecting to get your chance in life, just because of financial support as well as time budget. Mostly, people lack in either time or financial budgets... Some get a vault full of them.
May you get a chance to accomplish what you start next time and may it profit you.

I read all of that as "f*** 3D printers, this is the real thing".
And to that, I say:

Don't!
If it makes you feel good, and doesn't hurt anyone, do it.

Congratulations on your purchase, I hope you'll enjoy working with it!
I'm occasionally doing micro scale hardware stuff and I know it's fun - happy chipping

You see? You answered yourself! You're a free man! Also it is WAAAAY better than my indulgences, which aren't creative (with the due exception of books of course).

Interesting. My day job is writing software that computes tool paths for milling machines. Only the milling machines I'm talking of are slightly bigger. You won't be able to put one in your garage (unless you have a very big garage and pick a very small model) - see here: http://www.starrag.com/index.php/marken-starrag[^]
GOTOs are a bit like wire coat hangers: they tend to breed in the darkness, such that where there once were few, eventually there are many, and the program's architecture collapses beneath them. (Fran Poretto)

That is super cool. Some of the happiest times of my life were spent building parts in a machine shop. I'm jealous.

Nice, but a whole lot more money, and CNC is only worth the cost in a production shop.

Which is gives you more money running the website or blogs?

Neither. I only make small money by writing quality code.

Either you are a pessimist or I must be earning negligible amount then. The later seems more likely.

I am a realist. I have been constrained to "founder" by CP, where i would simply prefer "owner", and I really only own the name, i.e. it is a registered company name I trade under, not an empire.
I charge a reasonable rate, but life as a sole trader is not the high life.

It depends on the website. If you run a scam website such as the online gambling ones then you'll make more money than if you blog about the bowel movements of your cat. The latter is going to appeal only to a very niche market.

OK, so I asked the question earlier about brain teasers.
I just got off the phone with a "screener" for a position. He asked me this[^].

Anywhere from five to ten; I don't really care.

Exactly... I thought, wtf does this have to do with anything???

That was the first "technical" question I was asked, a few years back.
My immediate response was "Oh, so you make software for analysing clock displays, too? I thought you specialised in [product type]", and waited for a response before even trying to work out the answer.
Two questions (and two smart-@rse replies shrouded in angelic innocence) later, he put the piece of paper aside, and started talking about their product.
Thanks for reminding me of a good day!

I didn't know programmers have to make clocks too. Or perhaps at least give answers for clock calculus.
