I would tell you what I'm thinking about the Gestapo, but it won't pass even the Soapbox...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

Conspiracy theories - the hares are running. I thought it was to scare politicians.

Ashley Madison is a conspiracy to help people be unfaithful to their partners so I don't see what the problem is with the idea of a conspiracy.

I specifically used the term "conspiracy theory". I was not making any value judgements. I leave that to others.

Leslie Nielsen's full of these theories. This is the third time this story has been reported.

In which lesson do they teach you the importance of a poker face?
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

Heh. Love that pic. In the 7 years or so that I've been playing poker almost weekly, I've only had a royal flush twice.

Why obfuscating when you could instead outsource it?

Do you mean the result will be the same?

That depends on whether or not you want to understand it.

Both are unmaintainable, but the obfuscated code actually works?

Because you have no hope on the outsourced one, have you?

I have had some very bad experiences with outsourcing code. What we received may have worked in the particular test environment used by the testers, but failed in other (simple) cases - e.g. file paths with spaces in them not found, Unicode <==> MBCS conversion working only for English, or some such.

You want us to abuse the new downvote?

No, it is flagging something as abuse.
Would you rather not see an abuse-vote also work as a downvote, highlighting the topic in a different color?
If abuse is a downvote, then what is the equivalent for an upvote?

for an upvote- A member receives points and Points awarded for voting events are multiplied by a factor dependant on the level of the voter. Points are weighted by voting member's level.

I wouldn't. Only the admins should see abuse votes, and they should take appropriate action.

Why not color-highlight abusive posts?
I say flag them in purple. Let them know it is not a normal downvote. Have various degrees of purple to show the amount of votes. Let me know how bad it is before I open the topic.

Fine for you. I don't care; I'll make my own decision.
What may be bad is if members start hitting Abuse simply because someone else did and it simply becomes a pig-pile.
