I for one have Corrupdates off so they'll have come and do a home invasion update to get me.

You have a year to upgrade to 10 for free.
If you still want it after that, then you'll have to pay for it.
If MS was to force everybody to upgrade to it in "less than 3 months" from now, then there goes that revenue stream.
Still wanna have that bet?

I know it's supposed to be a free upgrade, that's why we here in NZ have to pay $98 to upgrade our systems. Nothing is ever free.
The difficult may take time, the impossible a little longer.
|
|
|
|
|
So if MS is going to "force" you to upgrade, how are they going to reach into your wallet and take that $98?
Or did you make the mistake of giving them your credit card details?
|
|
|
|
|
The $98 charge is by the oem/shops that distribute the upgrade. If we use the windows update installation method, we can easily blow the data caps on our broadband accounts. I have a reference number from MSTECH services that ensures a free upgrade for my computer, but only that one computer. The catch is that I have to go to the MS office in the city centre to collect my upgrade.
The difficult may take time, the impossible a little longer.

If that's their attitude, the local shops can stuff it.
Get the media, and give copies to anyone who asks. The bits are worthless on their own[*]; it's still up to the individual users to get their keys to make use of them.
[*] It's a free download available to anyone on MS's own site

Presumably it'll be over a year; i.e. around the time they start charging for it .

... is a PITA. Why can't I Keep personal files if the Edition changes?
Why can't it Keep my applications?
Why is it telling me that it can't see the DNS Server on activation when it really is a misspelt product key?
I sometimes have a Feeling that MS made an AI program (Intelligence in that as in "cross-breed a monkey and the donkey from Shrek) just to let it write the "Installers".
<Appendix>
I don't know what "Code Name" Win 10 featured, but telling from their Marketing Pictures they apparently supplied their Insiders with I'd go with Rabid Rex[^] as first guess

Why can't it Keep my applications? Come-on! It was like that for, what, 20 years - you remember to complain now!
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

Look after a non-drinker when the barman calls time (6)
Good luck

I can't make my solution fit so I'll try to force it:
curfew
Look after -> care (drunkenly pronounced cur)
non-drinker -> in a bar only a few (designated drivers perhaps)
Ok, I'll get my coat!
Cheers! (Is it beer 'o clock already?)
