Too much space? Really? What difference does it make? Is anybody's life at risk? Will the economy collapse? Is it a hidden cause of global warming?

Get a monitor with a higher pixel density.
One of my personal pet peeves with Windows 10 goes the other way--it seems that Microsoft has declared war on resizable window borders. Not that you can't resize anything, just that the border width for most windows is a single pixel, which makes them more difficult to grab/resize than ever.
|
|

How so? If this was intended to be "tablet-friendly", the borders would be bigger (making them easier to grab), not the other way around.

I was thinking tablet-friendly in the sense that there are practically no borders and you get the maximum viewing area.

For Metro Modern Universal apps, yeah, perhaps that makes sense, but these are your everyday desktop apps. Notepad, Explorer, the command prompt, PowerShell windows...etc, etc.
Besides, even Universal apps run in windows on 10, unless you explicitly switch into tablet mode. So the nearly-invisible window borders don't make sense to me.

No problems with the installation. Didn't take long either. Less than an hour.

I went from W7 to W10 and am pleasantly surprised. The layout is much closer to 7 than 8.
I am noticing a little lower performance, however. Primarily opening applications.

My upgrade took over four hours, and I lost count of the number of restarts. It does seem stable but slower.

My brother-in-law had the same problem. He has an older laptop. Mine is over a year old, but and went surprisingly fast. Having 64 GB of RAM must have helped.

Mine is pretty old - six years or so. I've only got 4GB of RAM in it, which is unfortunately the maximum.

Still plenty for Win10.
I'm running it on my HP Stream 7, which comes with a paltry 1GB. It's not "fast", but I wouldn't describe it as unresponsive either.

Me too, messed up plans for the day though! I'm wondering what PC manufactor you have mine was HP, are they rolling 10 out and fixing it for each make (if you have a bitsa you did yourself you may have issues, 'luckily' mine blew up and I had to buy a Win 8 box off the shelf!)

My desktop was self-built and the upgrade only took about 30 minutes. Haven't used it much, since I did it last night shortly before going to sleep, but it seemed pretty stable.

Just a little less than 30 minutes for me. I also find Win10 a lot faster.

Well, thats that theory out the window!

My rinky-dink Acer itty bitty ultra book (2MB RAM 250 SSD) got hit with the automatic upgrade from 8.1.
I just left it in a corner and it did it all itself, no problems.
Much close to Win 7 than 8 UI - not bad. Put VS 2015 on it and it works fine although a bit slow. I am going to up the memory to 8MB this weekend.

2 MB!?! How did you get it to run with that?!?

To tell the truth, I honestly expected it to roll over and die with that amount of RAM, but away it went, upgraded itself, and told me all was right with the world.
I am still going to up it to 8MB (maximum it will take, I think), though.

I think it's safe to say you mean GB, not MB.

Post screenshots. I've love to see it operate with "megabytes" of RAM rather than gigabytes.
