Since no one has posted the answer with the solution, you are up for today's one.
It was a "hidden word" clue and the answer was "ANSWER"
"The Germans were having a come back" -> "come back" was the definition and "having" was the "hidden word" indicator.
I think there were such situations earlier when a winner was declared even if they had posted the answer unknowingly.
