I dunno.
Archaeologists from a couple of hundred years in the future will probably be ecstatic to have it as a resource: firstly because it's the first really detailed insight into "normal" people's lives there has ever been; secondly because archaeologists get more information from rubbish middens than fine pottery; mostly because it will make them feel superior to the "average facebooker" in terms of intellect, vocabulary, ability to use punctuation, ...

We don't need to wait for archeologists from the distant future for that to take place.

If said archaeologists are descended from today's "average facebooker", I'd be surprised if they even knew how to read. We already have people suffering from 2nd-generation illiteracy (their parents and teachers are barely literate); does anyone think it will get better in the future?
(Note that I am not referring to those for whom English is a second tongue; I am referring to those for whom it is not even a first!)
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

It's obviously the short movie Bad Grammar Breakup[^]!
From IMDB: Breaking up are hard two do.

This question [^]got me thinking that this type of program was done and dusted in the 90's, some sort of asset management software. Then I thought why do I get an audit of my machine every 6 months, does the app not work?
Aren't there are systems that wipe unauthorised apps installed on a client machine or is that just reimaging the box to the standard. I seem to recall JSOP bitching about them cleaning out his machine regularly.
Never underestimate the power of human stupidity

Microsoft's own System Center Configuration Manager might be well-suited to do this, but totally overkill.
However you approach it, the problem is defining and maintaining the software catalog.

What a story!!! A team made up of rejects from other teams, their top scorer was playing in non-league just 4 seasons ago. The only downside is that next season Gary Lineker will present the first MOTD in his pants.
