It hasn't. Once you grant administrative access, you have no security. The same holds true for any OS. Windows is actually extremely secure and to rant that it isn't is naive and being misinformed.

So I'm staying in an Extended Stay hotel while I work on a project for client.
Last night at 11:30 I was awoken with "entertainment" from the adjacent room... bed banging the wall, loud expressions of... well you get the idea..
So half an hour into this I decide to call the front desk. It's midnight at this point and I have to work in the morning. So I explain what's going on and the woman at the front desk says, while laughing, "Well we won't charge you for the entertainment package. I'll go up and talk to them". She never did.
Eventually, since all good things must come to and end, they stopped.

until 5:30 this morning when they woke me up AGAIN. Same thing.. bed banging the wall, woman going off.
This time I'm gonna raise hell.

My worst: A night in a hotel "up north" before a big meeting the next morning.
Midnight and I'm woken up by a huge amount of noise - it sound like someone is running a bunch of Pneumatic drills[^] outside my room. I look out the door - the corridor is clear (but noisy).
I look out the window - nothing.
I call reception.
"Ah. We're remodelling the hotel."
At night?
"Oh yes! It's so we don't inconvenience the guests..." 
They moved me to a new room on the opposite side of the building, and I didn't get a bill...
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

Had the same thing happen to me on a cruise, only there was a lot of yelling and furniture being tossed prior to the "rendezvous." After several hours of this, I went next door and banged loudly on their door. It got deathly quiet, and there was no more noise until the next morning, which was departure day. That cabin's occupants were being escorted off of the ship.

Some people dual boot 8.1 and 10. They would not want the 8.1 OS updated to 10, since they already have 10.

Win 7 was prettier - Win 10 is one ugly sucker.
Win 7 was more "together" - Win 10 is still schizophrenic between is desktop roots and the "metro" cr@p applications it's unsuccessfully trying to replace them with. (Look at "Settings" versus "Control Panel", and "Mail" versus "Live Mail" for example.)
Win 7 didn't try to shove ads at you - if "try Oriffice 365" appears as a new notification once more this week I shall not be responsible for my actions.
Win 7 didn't have Cortana and a search system tied to Bong (and seemingly designed by an engineer after a few too many hits on one).
Win 7 never disabled my network card with a "silent update".

I only use Office Home & Business 2010. So this does not affect me.

I use the HOSTS file to get rid of pop-ups and other pests. So it doesn't bother me: Blocking Unwanted Connections with a Hosts File[^]

And it seems, that most of us do not think that 'the end justifies the means'...

One of my customer just informed me that the only PC that updated to W10 is now unreliable, failing to connect to network and corrupting databases.
They were happy when attempts to rollback to W7 failed to restore previous behavior, and they will have pay me 1 full day to reintall the PC and app as it was before.

Every time I upgraded from 7 or 8 to 10, I had a variety of issues. When I followed that up with a clean install, all the issues went away.
To get 10 to activate, you have two options:
1) Do a regular upgrade or update to 10. Make sure 10 is activated. This means your machine is registered with Microsoft as eligible for 10. Then do a clean install and 10 should activate without an activation code.
2) Some users say you can skip the upgrade and go straight for a clean install, provided you use the 10586 build disc. Then you have to manually activate it with the activation code of Windows 7 or 8 that used to be on the machine. However I have never tried this, so you do this at your own risk!

Funny this would be posted just now - not sure when it launched but nextdoor.com allows you to organize your communities, etc. Very useful for alerts, ideas, and suggestions, but this morning there was a very ribald rant against MS and forced Windows updates. Now this guy is apparently tech savvy and listed the 3 KB articles to remove and hide to avoid MS "helping" you. I won't bore you with all of the neighbors' comments.
So, MS has been pestering me to upgrade, and I'm just not going to do it to my dev machine. If it isn't broke don't elephant with it. So, I removed the three innocuous KB articles and proceeded to reboot. And went to:
"Configuration in process. DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR MACHINE"
got some coffee, drank it, still working...
went upstairs, brushed teeth, etc came back - still working...
about this time I'm thinking, "Oh #$#$%#, MS is doing something evil to me."
after 45 minutes, it finally shutdown and booted. Ai Ai Ai 
I'm not against Win10. I have it in a VM, but no, not my breadwinner.
