Actually, my mom is going to file an official complaint, but my dad and grandparents don't care about internet all that much
I didn't miss it all that much too be honest. I only felt guilty because I couldn't post my Sound of the Week and I didn't let you know in advance. I haven't scrolled back in the Lounge, but I can only imagine the worries and chaos when I didn't post it in time

One of the articles in a last week Insider was about internet being a human right.
So I guess they did violate our human rights.
Too bad I couldn't read that article without internet

I never expect usable Wi-Fi at a hotel anywhere -- so I'm never disapppointed. I do have a 4G hotspot device that I take instead; but the wife, kid, and I just spent a week at Walt Disney World and I didn't even bother taking a laptop.

Which antivirus software have you found to produce the least false-positives yet still offer great protection?
Prior to buying this new PC, I hadn't used an antivirus software in a long time because I typically stuck to a few websites that only I trusted and I hadn't downloaded any shady .exes in a long time. That said, I'm sure over the years, some malware crept into my old PC... I'm trying to prevent that as much as possible now, especially as a developer when I am on the computer a lot more now and doing a lot more downloading. Plus this NEW PC has enough power to handle easily running an antivirus software in the background, even if it is a resource hog.
That said, I just tried to work on a project from GitHub and found that Norton DELETED MY DLL FILES because they had "bad reputation." Yeah... So what should I replace Norton with? Or do they all suck?
Thanks,
Todd

Sophos never betrayed me. At work we use TrendMicro and it seems to work fine.

Obviously anecdotal evidence but: I use Avast and have never had an issue.
I've only ever gotten (maybe) two positives ever, but then again, I don't download every random exe I can get my hands on either...
Performance wise it seems to stay out of the way quite nicely, unlike Norton and McAfee who both have a bad reputation of reverting your PC into a 386...

You can tell Norton to ignore directories, to keep that from happening. Settings -> Antivirus -> Scans and Risks tab -> Exclusions /Low Risks -> Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect, SONAR... (Much frustration ensued until that was discovered.) Haven't had problems with Norton slowing down system since they pulled their heads out and redesigned the program 10 years ago.

Wow it take a bloody long time to recover a reputation, 10 years and most of us still dump on Symantec as rubbish software. And yes it has been over a decade since I allowed it on my systems

I had also removed it from my system in disgust, but saw it for free when I needed to renew. The reviews were good, and specifically mentioned the resource hogginess, so I gave it a shot.

I generally use Comodo, it has been fairly reliable over the years.

I use Kaspersky, and it gives me no problems.

I second that. I usually find Kaspersky online for anywhere between $10 to $30 for a year.

They all suck. I hate Norton more than anyone else though, It all started in my high school days. I was writing a C application. I compiled it and Norton deleted it. (I admit I was injecting my DLL into a process, but was it too shady?)
Then I deleted Norton.
I used ESET since then till I decided to replace everything with Ubuntu and KUbuntu.
