Is it anything to do with ions?

A specific ion type is part of it, yes - see above, where Roo Walker gives the explanation.

Any idea how they do these animations? HTML5 can do all these?
Starting to think people post kid pics in their profiles because that was the last time they were cute - Jeremy.

HTML5 can do all of those - with relative ease. Heck, you can do WebGL nowadays so this is fairly straightforward (it was possible to do something like this in older HTML with a lot of JavaScript (I've done it).

That site is my current favourite weather one. I also use their embedded maps on my qatar-is-calling blogs weather page as you can customise the view and get simultaneous views of different elements. e.g. I use the temperature map and the wind map. Qatar is Calling: Weather[^].
On their website, you can also see detailed forecast and current nearby webcams if you click on one of places on the map, e,g for Doha, site OTHH: Windytv / Windyty, wind map & forecast[^]

With @V reducing the MQOTD post, I was wondering if people would be interested in a new game. This is an idea I pinched from a local TV show that stopped a few years back, although I have enhanced it a little to make it a bit tougher. What I have done is taken the song lyrics of a not-obscure song, and run them through an on-line translator a couple of times, with the final translation being back to English. I thought it might attract some of the more twisted of us. Who can guess the Song Lyric Translation of the Day?
Here is the first example. I'll do one or two per week if people like the idea. Just let me know.
Morning in is it that is not impossible to help me with discussing my family member to as good thinks, I will, discuss as the gallon completes at my woman 'it, because my center knitting the crests time that entire day, the morning complete, as centers I do good thinks the matter, but what will they do not satisfy its that, about in it which he intended in order to lose centers discusses, about across I not detected will something, myself comfort in order to last the possibility yourself that helps myself, in grabbing my brain?
[EDIT]
This one did turn out particularly tough, so I'll add a couple of clues. Key words/phrases in the translation (not necessarily in the lyric, but relevant) are:
- impossible to help me
- my woman
- do not satisfy
- grabbing my brain
Cheers,
Mick

Personally, I think it sounds like a fun game.
I have no idea what the song is, though...

Paranoid? (Much more coming from the clues than the translation!)

Got it! For the rest of you, original lyric was
Finished with my woman 'cause she couldn't help me with my mind
People think I'm insane because I am frowning all the time
All day long I think of things but nothing seems to satisfy
Think I'll lose my mind if I don't find something to pacify
Can you help me, occupy my brain?
I'll give it another go in a couple of days - might take a few attempts to find a balance between too easy and impossible, but I'll figure it out.
Cheers,
Mick

How many churns did you give it through the translator?

Chinese, then Dutch, then Russian, and then back.

We're out on the road doing a Sahara trip. I needed to fire off some weekly backups and I found, to much joy, that the bally wifi in the room is whywont. So I am sat down in the hotel reception, after the bar has shut I might add, running backups, well snapshots, of the AWS volumes for all our production systems.

Automate your posts to CP?
No need, your live posts are fine. Very interesting.
