Well if you let everybody vote it wouldn't be just a 'feu' anymore - it would have to be alotalism - which is just silly.
I'm pretty sure I would not like to live in a world in which I would never be offended.
I am absolutely certain I don't want to live in a world in which you would never be offended.

Counts don't get to vote. They are too small a number and there are others who duke out the really big questions among themselves.

Well, to kick off the "upgrade", the IT department updated their own computers over the weekend.
Chaos and comedy has ensued, as I predicted. Despite the positive outlook based on some dodgy compatibility evaluation software, 247 of the 250 machines were rendered immediately unusable due to driver issues, and they had to revert back to Windows 7.
I now predict that the command is going to miss the 31-March deadline - by a significant margin - for the completion of upgrade.
But wait! The fun will really start on 23 Feb when they start the upgrade for the rest of the command.
Did I mention that 3700 of the computers did not pass the compatibility evaluation? Knowing the clunkiness of government procurement process, and the lack of any money being set aside for so many new computers in the affected departments, I figure it's gonna be at least a YEAR before the upgrade process is complete.
I suppose that the only silver lining to all of this is that the new machines will come with Win10 on them already, so will be compatible by default. However, I see that going sideways on them as well when they replace the manufacturer Windows image with their own.

I honestly don't know, but I heard a lot of the issues had something to do with VPN and CAC card reader drivers.

Hmmmm,
Why do you post on public forums about specific Department of Defense site vulnerabilities[^]? Even if it's a contractor site... it just seems wrong to post on a public forum about internal issues. You could be fired from a civillian job for revealing much less.

It's not a site vulnerability. It's an IT inability. Besides that, this was already in the news - the USAF has to replace over 11,000 computers for this "upgrade", and they are also constrained by the 31 March deadline.
They had until 2020 before Windows 7 was EOL'd, but no - somebody somewhere decided that a knee-jerk reaction was better than a planned upgrade schedule over the course of three years.

Considering the Windows driver model hasn't changed significantly since Vista, someone must really have gone out of their way to use some poorly documented "feature" that's now broken on 10.
(I have successfully installed drivers on Win10 that were made, specifically, for Vista).

Win10 has some issues but is more usuable than 8, however the changes that have been made to the Hardware Abstration Layer (HAL) mean it impossible to run some legacy software and hardware on Win 10.
I had to wait years for the HAL to become stable enough to run bits of hardware/software on. One thing is 10 based on a type of Linux as I have come across have had bash but not the MinGW compiler. Mind you these were using some very odd configs so it might have been 10 VM...

Not quite. It's still the same Windows, but it now has a Linux subsystem[^], which allows you to run a bash shell[^] (assuming you've installed it).
It's "based on Linux" in the same way that Wine is "based on Windows".
