Hmmm, they probably noticed that trick, on mine it's in big letters placed in the top center of the certificate

In that case, you're hanging it wrong.

Hi All,
We had a security review and this led to combination locks being fitted. Fine just make it more awkward have to remember 4 numbers now. The lock is exposed to the weather leaving mucking keys and clean keys, think about it for a second, the clean keys are the combination. Being that the order does not matter(!) just aim for the clean keys and you get in (?!). Please tell me the order matters on other locks...

As the next security measure, it will be mandatory to enter an incorrect code before entering the right one, to clean all keys equally.

Classic way to fool a key pad, look for the shiny buttons!

And how did these experts conclude that a number is less easily leaked or more secure than a physical key?

even better would be an NFC card...
most normal keys can be copied down at the hardware shop (including people leaving that earlier made a spare to keep in the backpack in case they leave their work keys at home).
NFC locks are about the same price as combination/keypad locks, plus if connected to the LAN can track people coming/going (outside office hours).
pin code lock for an outside is just stupid, internal, i.e. server room maybe, but never as an outside door.
Signature ready for installation. Please Reboot now.

A physical key is a very cost-efficient security-measure

OK - here's a plan:
1 - find out who picked a lock that allows arbitrary order
2 - find out where they fence the property they "liberate"
3 - pick up some real bargains !

The safe where I work beeps when the combination is entered.
The safe combination keypad is at eye level and easily filmed from desks to the side of it.
You can even get a clue as the the combination, based on the time delay between each beep - shorter time delays mean the numbers are close on the keypad.

At a company I used to work for, they installed one of those a shipping container computer facilities, and had a biometric lock (thumbprint scanner) put on it, even after I warned him that it wouldn't be enough.
I managed to get a copy of my bosses thumb print off his coffee mug, unlocked the door, and called him to come and see.
He wasn't happy. He had a CAC card reader installed that also required a 6-digit pin code. It was much more expensive, but at the same time, much more secure.

Can I swap
To get into the server room at work.
1. Disable the alarm by entering a pin and unsetting the correct zone
2. Present your pass to a reader
3. enter you secret 4 digit pin.
4. do your stuff
5. sign out of the room with your card (if you don't you can't get back in)
6. reset the alarm
then you get to walk away, also someone in a different part of the country is watching you on a CCTV feed to make sure that you dont eat, drink, allow un authorised people in, remove equiptment etc.

Even if you don't go all the way to personal smart cards like the CAC JSOP has the pleasure of dealing with, a digital pad that randomizes where each digit is shown will prevent clean/dirty button attacks.
Which is important because even if order does matter, 4 shiney buttons means 4*3*2 = 24 possible combinations; trivial to brute force.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
