Curious, you want to get rid of developers and at the same time train them for another job (employer?) ?
I'd rather be phishing!

I thought he meant "Redmond Programming Guidelines," I guess he wants people that can do more than reinstall windows any time things stop working.

I was just trying to help. We are undergoing "Digital Transformation". I have no idea if my job is safe, I've been told not but my skills are more mainstream. I just accidentally volunteered to help out and one thing I thought might help was if those people could update their skills. I said what I thought they should do, but was looking for other suggestions.

This is one of the most common, and most difficult, questions posted here. Yes, you could advise them to go and learn SQL or some other database, or maybe Sharepoint, or ASP.NET. But that will not guarantee future employment. You, and they, need to decide what they would like to do, and what opportunities exist in their locality.

Well currently all over the globe software houses and shops have re-skill plans in place with a consideration towards the future and the so call digital transformation.Skeptical as it may be.
Microsoft themself have tied up with edx and have a few courses @ Microsoft - Free Courses from Microsoft | edX[^]
also Introduction to Data Science[^]
Training for such areas could be arranged and such courses could be conducted in your company for transforming or re-skilling.Moving to the cloud does not by itself mean that things will just work as planned unless you are contracting out the whole stuff. Then its time for that long vacation.

Australians are well known for their abuses & sledging on the cricket field.
This oz guy called "Rodney Marsh" once asked Ian Botham (England):
“So how’s your wife and my kids?” — Rodney Marsh told Ian Botham during an Ashes match.
Botham replied: “The wife’s fine. The kids are retarded!”
Starting to think people post kid pics in their profiles because that was the last time they were cute - Jeremy Falcon.

The better sledge is "Why are you so fat?" - but the reply is not for the lounge.

Anyone have one of these?
I read that the Puxel 3/XL will be out in 4 to 5 months but will be new tech made by Foxconn, an unknown entity and expensive.
The Pixel 2 XL is currently 30% off and me and the Missus are still using our S5's that are close to 4 years old.
Trying to talk myself out of it but know I will fail. Love to get to straight Android again, Samsung and others extra layer of shite annoys the faarrrkkkk out of me.

In 4 to 5 months a new fancy model will be announced that will replace the Pixel 3, and you will ask the same question.
If you have some disposable income now, go for it for the current model; if not, wait.

I know you can't keep current and with a nearly 4 year old phone I don't try.

I'm sure I will get them in the next day or so, just waiting to see if someone screams noooooo, as there is an issue I don't know of.

As one of the other posters said, new smartphones with new features are being released all the time, so waiting for the 'phone with The Next Big ThingTM means that you'll never upgrade.
If you are happy with the performance of your current 'phone, and don't need any of the newer features, why upgrade?

It's getting on to 4 years old, is quite shite, keeps wanting to install Samsung whatthefuckever updates and I can claim it off tax and we've only 29 days left of this financial year.

or you could buy a $50 phone that does all the things you need and have a weekend away on the money you saved (I'm guessing even after the discount about $500? more?) not buying the pixel.
Likely a lot more savings coz if you were getting a fancy phone the wife would want one too, and a new dress to go with it, and new shoes to go with the new dress...)

Work for myself, so ned access to emails at the very least which a AUD$50.00 won't do. Maybe in Singapore but over in Oz where morons have consistently shown the manufacturers we will pay way over for everything, the Pixel 2 XL is for the next couple of weks AUD$1,549.00 down to AUD$1,099.00.

Getting the Missus a phone too was a given, think I mentioned that in the OP but maybe not. Shoes and shite ain't an issue right now, 6 weks today since the Hip Replacement, she's not looking for shoes, dresses etc.

When I get a new phone, 1st thing I do is uninstall pretty much everything I can. Then I grab the apps off Google Play that I like using. But this is a rare event. I keep a cell phone until it absolutely just falls apart and burns a hole in my pocket.
I had Samsung Galaxy S3 I got new some years ago and kept it until last year when it died. Replaced it with an LG V-10. Helluva nice phone with a great camera and big bright screen. But it's already "obsolete." Seems that smaller screens are the new thing. Was in the Verizon store a few days ago and nothing had a screen as big as my old Galaxy or the V-10.
Sometimes the true reward for completing a task is not the money, but instead the satisfaction of a job well done. But it's usually the money.

The problem I have is that many of the crap apps from Samsung are super glued in and can't be uninstalled, at best you can disable and or not update, but they keep tuning up every couple of weeks and I have to manually stop them from updating.

My Galaxy S4 still looks pretty good since I put them in a case, it's just slow. My wife's which lives in a handbag looks like it is used daily on a construction site to hammer in nails all day. Don't like the idea of buying her a pricey phone outright (always got them on plans, but my carrier has been offering crap phones for the past couple of years and they want me to pay $10.00 per month per phone extra for not completely shite) but if I get one and she doesn't...well we've been together 30 years in a couple of months, and it's just easier to buy her one.

I entered the realm of Pure Android with a Nexus 4 in Feb 2013. Loved that phone, shattered that screen within 6 months.
Went to an HTC One in late 2013. Still (almost) functional, but falling apart.
Last April, I purchased a refurbished Nexus 4 on Amazon. Works wonderfully. $60 was more than worth it.
Have been thinking about upgrading to the 5X, current refurb price is about 200.
