Epitaphs of the War by Rudyard Kipling
I especially like:
Two Canadian Memorials
I
We giving all gained all.
Neither lament us nor praise.
Only in all things recall,
It is Fear, not Death that slays.
II
From little towns in a far land we came,
To save our honour and a world aflame.
By little towns in a far land we sleep;
And trust that world we won for you to keep!
Convoy Escort
I was a shepherd to fools
Causelessly bold or afraid.
They would not abide by my rules.
Yet they escaped. For I stayed.
Common Form
If any question why we died,
Tell them, because our fathers lied.
But the last says it all:
A Dead Statesman
I could not dig: I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?
Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.

A little something from Phil Ochs ("I Ain't Marchin' Anymore"[^]):
"It's always the old to lead us to the war
It's always the young to fall
Now look at all we've won with the saber and the gun
Tell me is it worth it all" Country Joe and the Fish ("I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag"[^]):
Come on mothers throughout the land,
Pack your boys off to Vietnam.
Come on fathers, and don't hesitate
To send your sons off before it's too late.
And you can be the first ones in your block
To have your boy come home in a box.
Ravings en masse^ |

Or are self employed.
The SEs love Monday as there is 5 days to make more money and I have the whole week to untangle knots that may come up today. Fridays' are less that ideal for me as I have to wrap up everything or could be working on the weekend. - most distasteful.
Y'all have a great week.

I still miss side-dockable app-launch toolbars on Windows 10.
I've been looking for alternatives - I don't want fancy scrolly Mac-ish 'docks' I just want to be able to launch apps and open locations from an unobtrusive bar docked to the side of my desktop.
You know - like you used to be able to...
Any recommendations?

third party products in win 10 only one thing is sure: the next 10 update will reset it's preferences, disable it, break any dependencies then delete it ... IOW anything you find is only going to be good for a few months at best.
rather then firefighting win updates get your productivity back: go linux or mac.

Why can't we design software like that anymore?
Functional and without the need for an over-complicated sugar-coated UI?
Nice work!
