"They have us surrounded - those poor bastards".
Is that from them? Not sure if even a real quote, but it's been around for a long, long time.

No, that should be from the Easy Company, 101st Airbourne Division, IIRC.
Ariete (and Folgore) companies are quite famous between people fond of Italian armed forces because they fought bravely and valiantly despite the terrible situation of the army and the desperate numerical inferiority they were in. Both of these companies got commendation from the Allies for the valor AND for the problems they caused, sometimes holding a position only with guts and grit until they were completely wiped out, buying precious time for the Axis forces (whebn they were our allies) to evacuate or reinforce.
For many people they are a symbol of courage and determination, not linked to any political connotation (as it is for me, I don't have any nazi or fascist sympathy).

Is it? I must've watched HBO's Band of Brothers (whose story is centered around the 101st) at least half a dozen times, and I can't recollect anyone saying that in the series. Or maybe I've read it in Stephen Ambrose's book (on which the series is based).

Everybody is like Tesla is the best, Einstein is the best!
Nobody (I mean no laymen) ever invoke the name of Landau..
Yet, when I studied physics, there was always a Landau theorem about whatever topic we were studying!

I wonder how different the world would be if people like Landau were thought of as celebrities?

Wozniak is cool and he actually stood against what iCrap nowadays is. Example: Back then, he fought for expansion slots unlike nowadays "Just buy the more expensive option".
