Did you create that post with a VI editor?

I've got a bug that only pops its head up after my code chunks on a computation for several minutes.
I know where the bug is coming from, but not exactly how to reproduce it outside this case I am running that again, takes several minutes.
i remember it taking several minutes between builds. in 1988. i could make a sandwich while waiting for Orca C to compile.
This feels like that. It's all console work, and it's all just reams of code to solve what amounts to math problems.
I have gone back in time.

It'll be fine, so long as you can get your DeLorean up to 88Mph.

Streets? Where we're going, we don't need streets.

hah fair.
as an aside by brain hurts. i have to write an awful lot of code that solves interdependency chains, and I keep getting into infinite loops.
i hate handling stuff like this. i have a headache in my eye. meh.

Though, of course, the DeLorean was already traveling much faster just sitting there in the parking lot.

Heh, I saw the one of the Back to the Future Delorians on the freeway a few weeks ago. It was the one with the Mr Fusion.

and shoulder pads could have worked too. it's all in the execution.

that's a little harsh. I usually reserve that sort of criticism for VB developers.
i'm kidding. i don't care what language they code in, i have equal contempt for them all.

My current project requires half an hour to build (it has to fetch every component from the main customer server over a slow VPN and cross-compile every module + execute a lot of code generators and yocto run) and can't be debugged stepping into code, we can only register terse debug messages and analyze post-mortem.

that sounds almost as awful as when i had a project where every build revision had to go through gov approval.
i do not envy you.
